Is there anything notable? For all the talk of console stuff from so many places... I rarely hear of people bothering to import a PC or components, take their PC with them while moving (I don't want to think about baggage fees on a desktop!), etc. An item pretty much counts as long as users of IBM descendants are its core intent. After all this topic can't be very well-defined. Compatibility lines are blurred with things working in numerous systems.
There's probably thousands of items in this category. Sometimes engineering samples are interesting, but hardware comes and goes, and unlike rare game prototypes, people tend to forget about old hardware. Some people collect old Apple stuff, like Apple II's and the original Apple, but besides that, it's all pretty much in the eye of the beholder.
True. It'd take FOREVER to hunt down then scour old catalogs and advertisements to learn where items were sold. I wouldn't be surprised if some Japanese H-game special editions have stuff not available here. >_>
There doesn't seem to be as much of an interest in retro PC games and hardware as there is in consoles. It's unfortunate, because there really has been some interesting PC stuff released over the years.
Yeah, there is some pretty interesting hardware. It is a shame that most isn't collectible, but it's understandable because it's pretty difficult to display, and at least 99% of wives would object to in the first place lol.
There was a ton of games and accessories for computers like the Amiga and Atari ST that were only released in the UK and not anywhere else, I wonder why that did not happen with the IBM PC.
One example I can think of are those NEC computers that both were compatible with NEC's PC98 architecture and Windows 95/98. They were released to compete with Compaq and other foreign companies.
