Let's say I was to buy an XBox Arcade Spring bundle. Does the XB now allow external drives to be used for game data storage?
The space you can use on a USB device is very limited though, like 8 GB or something (for obvious reasons), so don't expect to be able to use it as a primary storage space. Edit: 16 GB
Yeah, well the only issue for me on the Arcade system is the lack of WiFi and the tiny storage. But since 16GB USB is now so cheap, I figured that only leaves the WiFi, which I could always buy a bridge or official adapter for. Thanks for the answers.
True, but a 20GB drive second-hand would only cost you tuppence-ha'penny. (Americans: this is Northern British for 'not a lot of money' ).
I don't know how much the old arcades go for but the new slim models are $199 have 4gigs and wifi. and you can also upgrade the hard drive pretty easily without paying for the ridiculous Microsoft branded hard drive. http://www.gamesncrap.com/?p=812 Plus you get the nice matte black finish instead of the super shiny finish that scratches REALLY easily.
The spring pack, which is the HDMI Arcade unit and 2 Rare games currently is still retailing for $149, which makes me want to buy another XB360 so I can work on some XNA stuff.
oh gotcha. that's not a bad deal. paying $90 for the wireless adapter (new) is a pain though. that'll put you at $239. you could probably find that adapter for cheaper though.
I have a spare 120GB hard drive (new and never used) that came with the Elite bundle. If you do decide to go with the spring system bundle, let me know.
