Has it already been four years? The Xbox marks its Japan launch anniversary. During this time, Microsoft has 500,000 sold consoles and 160 released games to show for it. Sony, with their home-field advantage, has more. Way more. The big black box with a giant “X†has moved over 600 machines this year. Fifty-four were purchased last week. While the first-gen console’s days are most likely numbered in Japan, diehards have two upcoming titles to look forward to: Sonic Riders and The King of Fighters Neowave. After that? Check the used bins. Source : http://www.gamebrink.com/?news=231 Kotaku
That poor guy in the pic...getting his hand crushed like that 4 years and 600 000 units.......0_o Ryan
Damn that is so pathetic.. A tear nearly welled up in my eye at how sad this is. Not because I'm a huge Xbox fan but because it's such a waste of resources to sell in a country that doesn't care.
And I remember exactly where I was on launch day... at work, while my wife went to buy mine w/ JSRF... one of 3 Xbox games I still own.
Well, I bought both Xbox and Jet Set Radio Future on my own. But it was the only Xbox game my wife actually played through. Cool music! M.
I think MS has learned from their mistakes. Hopefully the support from Mistwalker, Capcom, From Software, Treasure, and G.Rev and do something good for MS in Japan. Honestly guys, MS had A LOT less JP support on the Xbox than they do with the 360. It won't beat out the PS3 and probably not the Revolution (though truth be told, I think the Revolution is going to beat out the PS3 in Japan), but hopefully it sees some stronger sales. Maybe breaks a million... maybe? Probably not.
