I'm sorry if this was covered before but I can't find info anywhere. I have an Xbox 1.0 and the component video has horizontal noise. It's almost like a there's a bunch of rolling interferences all over the screen. The pixels don't distort but rather flicker. I usually don't notice it unless there is a static screen like a menu. I've tried the following: -Component cables directly to the tv and through the framemeister. -I have a standalone component cable and also the XBox High Definition AV Pack pared with HD Retrovision component cable. -Cleaning and inspecting every inch of the system for leaky caps and corrosion. (I have removed the clock cap). -I did repair a microscopic broken trace for the front leds so maybe there is another one affecting the video. At this point recapping might help but I don't know anywhere that sells kits. I did replace both fans in it and maybe they are adding voltage fluctuations but that would be a bit of a stretch.
I don't unfortunately. So I'm guessing this isn't a common occurrence? I could make a gif showing the noise.
I assume you didn't remove the shielding from the xbox. Maybe it's a grounding issue between your xbox and your tv set. Try to connect a ground wire between your TV and your xbox shielding and see if it makes a difference. If your tv is also having a floating ground (no earth pin in it's main plug) even rotating the mains plug 180 ° can make a difference.
So last night I bought another Xbox (I believe this is a 1.3 but it has not been opened as the stickers are still in place) and did extensive testing between different tvs and now with my two Xbox's. I figured out the problem is the framemeister. I have no idea why the Xbox component into the framemeister acts like this when no other component console does. I have a 4k tv that does a horrible job with 480p component so I use the framemeister to sharpen the image. I wonder if the framemeister is having a grounding issue like you mentioned but my tvs have a higher tolerance. I also tried adjusting the sync on my framemeister but nothing changed and also different power outlets on different breakers. I could try flashing it to a lower firmware but that isn't practical for normal use.
Third party low cost component cables are known to give a poor image quality, but you don't seem to use some of those. Maybe there is a noise treshold that your tv set ignores but your framemeister doesn't. You basically would need to display a black screen and check the video output signals with a scope to see if they are clean or noisy. I did some vga out tests lately and also had 1 screen that appeared to be noisy, but it's a small cheap 7 inch screen. I am considering to test the "vga 2 hdmi mini" to see if it's hdmi is any good (and hopefully lag free). Problem is that the LM1881 only generates composite sync and not truly hsync and vsync.
