Hello. I got an xbox yesterday that was a 1.6b, it would not boot. I installed an Aladdin XT Plus 2 modchip in it and booted evox from dvd. Then ftp'd in and saw a messed up softmod install on the cdrive and stock dashboard missing entirely. I deleted everything in C:\ then installed "MS Dash 5960" and names the xbe msxboxdash.xbe, then fxp'd evox from D:\ to C:\ and named the xbe xboxdash.xbe. So now It boots evox and I can access the stock dashboard. Now I want to install a bios with lba48 support so I can install a large drive. The bios that comes with the Aladdin XT Plus 2 is "Evox M8plus BIOS 'M8plus_16.bin'", I read in another thread to use Hexen disk to flash the bios. I booted the disk, Select option 3 (TSOP Flashed / Chipped Xbox) then option 3.2 (Modchip / TSOP Flash Not Winbond), It then says it's copying a bunch of files then errors saying Error "Unable to Launch "E:\Delete Me\evoxdash.xbe". File does not exists. I think the reason it's failing is beacuse of the orignal messed up softmod? anyway TLR what bios should I use as I think I can just flash directly from evox which is my main dash. I just need to make sure the bios supports 1.6b Any help is appreciated and Merry Christmas to all.
I thought M8plus_1.6.bin BIOS already had LBA48 and IGR support but maybe they were using the unofficial patched version that has both of those features added. .../bios/evolution-x/MULTI_VERSION/_unofficial/M8_LBA48_IGR.rar Evolution-x M8 patched with LBA48 and IGR (In-Game Reset) These are other possible BIOSes: MULTI_VERSION Xecuter2 4983 256k: x2_4983.06_256k.bin remainder to F: (partition 6 only) x2_4983.67_256k.bin add F: and G: (partition 6 and 7) and MULTI_VERSION Xecuter2 5035 v16plus - x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin But, I don't think you can use 5035 as the Aladdin supports only 256kB bioses. Make sure the BIOS used is for a 1.6 version xbox.
You could use NghtShd's EVtool 1.0.9 to patch/mod the IGR and LBA48 support in your current M8plus_16.bin file that was flashed to your Aladdin XT 2 plus. There are a lot of other options that EVtool can customize too. http://www.realmodscene.com/xbins/XBOX/PC Based Applications/bios tools/EVtool/ EVTool shows me that M8plus_16.bin has LBA48 support and IGR enabled. IGR - more compatible instead of Quick LBA48 - Partition 6 Takes Rest of the Drive
