So I had this Xbox 1 that was neatly softmodded with EvoX and the Mechassault exploit that had been chugging along for years being a generic media server that I could stream music to and play the occasional Xbox 1 game. Worked great. Well about a year ago I went off to college and decided to leave it for my nephew as he loved to play Finding Nemo and Nightmare Before Christmas on it (the games BTW, not the movies) when he was around. Well my brother decided that he wanted to load it up with movies. Seeing as I never replaced/upgraded the HD from the stock 8GB model he quickly ran out of room. Any guesses what he did next? If you said "chdir into every partition and delete everything to make room" you get a cookie! Anywho, is there a way to replace/recover the Xbox Dashboard to the default retail state? I know there are those fancy Factory Restore discs but I don't have the time, money, or ablilty to aquire one (unless someone wants to let me borrow theirs for a weekend :icon_bigg), but beyond that I'm clueless on what to do. Its been ages since I last did a modding and so I haven't a clue on the newer stuff.
Did you make a backup of your hddkey/eeprom? If so you can use xboxhdm and reformat the drive to factory state.
If I did, that was ages ago and its possible its long gone. I guess I'll dig though my backups (do I really want to go through 5 years of tape, no but I probably will). Will read up on xboxhdm. Any other ideas?
Are you talking about the slayer discs? Those only work if your xbox is running AND is softmodded already. If you cannot find your eeprom/hddkey, you can get it via the eeprom chip on the xbox. You'll still need to reformat the xbox with xboxhdm though. More info on that here -> http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/Reading_Xbox_Hdd_key.htm The only other thing I can think of is plugging in the xbox hdd into your computer and using xplorer360 to copy the whole xbox dash files and stuff to the appropriate drives. ( C and E ) Finding a untouched backup should be easy, so try that method first before trying the xboxhdm route Thanks for Everything, PSPdemon
Easiest way would be to chip it. You can then drop in a bigger HDD if you want and use Slayer's to set it up. Assuming you haven't a backup of your eeprom, the cheapest way would be to use xboxhdm and hotswap method. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=244043 http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=332179 I have a cd image ready made to use with this method...I can PM you the link if you want. Edit: You also need a PC with an IDE connection for this to work.
