Hello everyone was recently working on this xbox v1.0 128MB RAM installed successfully using the bios BIOS 5004.67 IND-BIOS beta greetings some pictures .
Great job, congrats. P.S. Ram test program? Where can I get it? I already tested my v1.4 to work with Chihiro games, but it is interesting to test this program.
Hi heres is the complete info and download link about the program is used for testing the ram is called Xblast os same software used on Benny Diamond XBlast Modchip but you can use it as an aplication on a tsop flashed 128mb ram upgrade xbox.http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/release-xblast-os-v0-3beta.56457/
Hello the rams were removed from a dead Xbox 1.6, using a hot air gun, then after flashing the bios xecuter 5035 for 1.0-1.1 xbox to the tsop but if you console is version 1.2-1.5 i recomend use ind-bios 5003 or ind-bios 5004 beta .67 only, just use flux for the installation of the rams on the Xbox v1.0 make sure of the alignment circles,small circles on the ram chip goes with small white points on the motherboard aligment is very important on this operation i use a 15 watts soldering iron from radioshack and a recomendation before installing the ram remove clean the motherboard with alcohol 100 clean the rams pads( use desoldering braid to remove excess of solder in the pads) where the ram goes, carefully apply flux to the pads after installing solder the first ram conect the motherboard to the psu in the case and test(this must be done everytime a ram chip is installed) light code must be red orange,not red green,red and green light code means there is a solder bridge in one of the legs of the ram must e fixed before proceed,when you solder the last ram number 4 clean all flux residue on the motherboard let it dry and conect the motherboard must boot to the bios etc.complete tutolrial here
Sandpaper hmmm, if there is a need to rub back a coating, I'd feel better using a fiberglass pen to be honest...
Just to let you know there is no coating that needs to be removed! Just clean all the pads using desoldering braid and alcohol if there is some solder on them already. Then position the chip fix it at all 4 edges and solder it in. Do that with all 4 chips and your done! For a good result use a good flux and solder each pin by applying a little amount off new tin! Please stop scrating on Xbox motherboards! The only thing your doing is damaging the coating which in the future could damage the traces that now get exposed to the air humidity!
There's nothing wrong with using braid - you'll be using a temperature-controlled iron anyway, of course. It's likely your hot air station is hotter than the iron. Just use common sense. Sandpaper isn't a good idea - yes a fibreglass pen is the correct tool... but you shouldn't be removing solder in this way AT ALL. THAT is the bad practice, not what you reported (and there's no need to report such a thing - just have a civil conversation). And... I wouldn't use alcohol to clean solder up with heat! Alcohol is fuel. Fuel + heat = fire. Basic chemistry, people! Did you not take chemistry in school? To remove components, use hot air or a desoldering station. Braid is OK for tidying up if you have to do so. Leave the sandpaper in your woodwork shop!
Pretty sure he means to use braid to get the solder up, then IPA etc to clean up the pads from flux etc.
@retro i meant isopropyl alcohol of course. I personally use a flux removing spray to clean off the flux residues but ipa also works just fine. Just wanted to point out that not even a fiberglass pen is needed. Removing excess tin using desoldering braid and cleaning up the pads using ipa and you got a perfect starting point for a Ram upgrade!
Quite! I was actually more referring to the original: ...which he mentioned BEFORE flux, so the use of alcohol seemed pointless. Does the Xbox need to be TSOP flashed to accept the RAM upgrade?
Hello yes the Tsop must be flashed {or using a modchip} before the ram upgrade with a bios that support 128mb of ram examples of this Xcecuter 4981 fully compatible 1.0-1.5 xbox versions 128mb ram full ind-bios 5003-or 5004beta.67 xbox versions1.0-1.5 fully compatible 128mb ram full this bios has support for hard disk 1 terabyte or more ,Xcecuter 5035 this one for xbox version 1.0-1,1 only- with 1mb tsop this bios is 512k size . this bios has support for hard disk 1 terabyte or more 128mb ram full {evoxm8 is the only bios not support 128mb ram}
Spoiler: Original post I have a few questions, maybe I should start a new thread, but I think it is to much. I do have IND BIOS 5003.67 128mb v1.4 console. I have found patched Morrowind GOTY that accepts mods I got the mod pack (Morrowind GOTY Ultimate Mod Library v2.0). I want to improve the picture quality using mods from the pack or any other new mod from PC. That is why I need to know: -Is there any way to patch the game to work in 720p? It works in 480p now. I have found a patcher that might force the game to work in 720p (it is pretty buggy). -Is there any debug tool or special tricks that helps to reverse the game .xbe file and edit window parameters? Is there any way to strech every single static (like loading screens) low resolution original image to be 720p size or to correct the positions of the game interface (window for text for exapmple). -Is there any way to somehow connect hd44780 spi LCD text screen to make RAM usage visible during the game process? I have no special chips (only Aladdin Adv XT). Bios is TSOPed. -Is there any way to patch the Morrowind game xbe to use all 128mb RAM? ### My questions might be stupid, well, that is why I post them here and did not made a new thread. I do understad that the xbox is not so powerfull, but I want to pimp the Morrowind to work better. These mods I used with Morrowind made it better. The only limit for further game improvents is RAM (which is doubled at mine xbox). Any answer is pleased. ### UPDATE: -128mb RAM patcher found and works. -720p patcher found and works (need more tests). -Is there any way to monitor RAM during the game process in real time?
Very nice work! I've been considering this mod for myself. Not sure if I want to chance the install myself tho and I'm not aware of anyone here in the U.S. who does it.
