Hey, I bought a used xbox 360 phat for a couple of dollars because it has red ring, I am going to try to fix it. However the only xbox 360 ac adapter I have is a dev xbox 360 power, the one for the xbox 360s with the sidecar. So If I use this power on a standard 360 will I destroy it further?
Honestly Gamestop has Xbox power bricks for $30. I'd go with that. http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/xbox-360-ac-power-adapter/74086
Dev psu works fine in a retail, it wont cause any damage, the only difference between the dev and retail is that there is a higher current limit on the dev as the sidecar pulls quite a bit of current
I'm curious what model you got that has the red ring and were able to fix? The original jasper chip ones, even once they were heated back to the board, tended to fail again I think. I have a falcon chip 360 thats lasted a few years. Does the RROD usually mean the chip came off the board or is there also another symptom? I think in the later model 360s they replaced the red ring error with an E75 or something so people wouldn't complain about the RROD anymore.
