On your dev kit I found the long screw, towards the center, that goes through the fan shroud needs to be snug but not tight if it is to tight the fans go into an overdrive mode.
Fan stacking is routinely done in overclocking. The fans pull faster than the ones in the 360. The fans in the 360 pull out, not in.
My first 360 got the ring of death something like October last year but i got another so all's good for now. Will those random crashs ever get fixed :|
hmmm ASSEMbler, you could have made the video, and then have sent in the XBOX 360, and then you could have sold the 360 afterwards. Since what you did there , is perhaps a bit stupid. Since you could have screwed them ;-) now you have just screwed yourself instead. But please don´t take it the wrong way, but hindsight is perhaps something we should have at times. Even me. So in following procedure Make the video , but not uploading it. Send in the 360 for the last refurb, then sell it. And then you could show the video.
I dont like the Wii. There i said it, i dont like the Wii. That sort of gaming and the kiddish/rpg games just dont appeal to me at all.
Fair enough. You should never buy a games console if you don't want the games. The X360 has a greater selection of your regular single-player and networked console games, whilst the Wii is more of a multiplayer/group/party games machine.
Still lucky here I guess...on my 360 launch model. While changing my entertainment center around I knocked the 360 over from the standing position to its side on my wood floor....twice. Had one red ring come up when I played it without opening the glass on my entertainment center, but about 20 minutes later it was ready to go. I also dropped it from the thrid floor balcony into crashing waves on the beach without problems. OK, I liked about the last part. I think it's just the luck of the draw. My buddy bought 2 Dells that were lemons back to back. Another buddy of mine won't touch a Toyota again because he had nothing but problems. Every Sony product I've ever had that was smaller than a shoe box lasted a grand total of about 10 minutes. Seems like it's just plain luck...
I got the 3 rings 15 minutes after I got my system I was playing a heated DOA 4 battle and it just crapped on me. Turning my system on it's side and plugging it into the wall and reconnecting the cables fixed it but I'm keeping the system on it's side (I hear doing that is actually better for the system anyway. As is my understanding any 360 made after July 2006 should be ok.
For sure, on it's side less read errors. I knowit looks good, but I wouldn't keep any system vertical anymore..
In terms of the drive spindle, keeping any optical drive horizontal is a good idea. It's also worth bearing in mind that for an older console, like a Playstation, if you're getting read errors then turning them over may help, as the spindle wear may be less pronounced. Kind of a well-known trick, but worth remembering.
It was just the whole "intercooler is responsible for all xbox 360 failures ever" reply. They seem to like to use that crutch an awful lot.
Not that any of you care but I've had 7 360s die on me. My original Every10Minutes system was an earlier revision too and I wish I had kept it. There were some minor differences on the faceplate and junk. Oh well. My 8th system seems to be running pretty well. I just flashed the thing to play around with DOA4 file swapping.
