I have a wireless 360 controller and am looking for a way to use it on my computer. I know that I could just get a wireless receiver for my computer, but seeing as I would rarely be more than a couple feet away a wired solution makes more sense. So my question is this: is there a cable that I can buy with a plug for the 360 wireless controller on one end and a USB connector on the other end? I've seen some cables like this labeled as "play and charge," but I'm not sure if that's what I'm looking for. I simply need something that will allow me to use my wireless 360 controller with my computer.
Play and Charge is just for power, even when used with the Xbox 360. The only wireless controller option for a PC is using the wireless receiver.
Just pick up a cheap Wired controller, then you have a spare for when your wireless controller's batteries die. Or when you have friends over (you do have friends right :lol.
i wouldn't say it's dumb. Sony's PS3 controllers adhere to the same design philosophy as well. It would be impractical to switch protocols on the fly for wired/wireless, as they may even include different logic inside for USB/RF communication.
Seconded, plugs straight in and works off the bat. I just downloaded a PS3 controller for Mac driver. Works nicely too.
