I just wanted to confirm I could get a 360 Dev Kit. Buy a laptop Hard drive and it would work. But what would I need to do exactly. Thanks :).

Well you need the recovery CD's to format the harddrive, also don't bother asking it on open forums...

Also did you buy that hdmi kit?

ohh, then buy any normal laptop hardrive (sata) and then if your kit has a sidecar then you just install it, if it doesn't then you need to buy a shell or the cables that come in the retail hardrive and plug that into your kit

You could check out my guide, it gives details about switching a HDD, although it's in the sidecar on my Dev Kit, it's basically the same process except without the HDD.

If your kernel is hight enough you can format a hdd using the retail dash as well.

Okay thanks everyone :). So what would I need exactly if I were to get a laptop hard drive ? I don't have any normal 360 Hard Drives.

No problem. All you need is a SATA laptop hard drive, any will do. The HDD enclosure has a special connector inside that lets it connect to the 360. You can probably find an enclosure and connector on Ebay for a pretty good price.
