I've always wondered... Say you have a redringed development 360 console, could you call Xbox Tech Support and get it repaired/replacement devkit? I mean I called tech support and asked but she wasn't so sure about development consoles, but said I should be able to get another dev replacement. Anyone got any more solid evidence?
It's a totally different setup for dev kits, you have to go through XDS, I have the email if you want it
I'm sure if one is an illegitimate owner meaning they were not assigned their dev for their game company, it wouldn't be a good idea huh? Because they'd probably question you? Or no?
Three problems with this 1. Microsoft wont repair/replace ANYTHING without the warranty still in place. 2. Microsoft is going to need PROOF that the owner has a development license. 3. I'm pretty sure its not as easy as sending it in and getting one back through NORMAL customer support. The whole idea just has bad written all over it, I wouldn't think twice about it.
I'm sure MS will gladly send another one back...It'll not play unsigned code though, and will probably hardly play retails :katamari: ...oh, almost forgot the RROD in a month that always comes with [most of] the refurb'd consoles.
1. Obviously, anyone knows that's Microsoft's first words when you bring up the repair subject. Many also know that sometimes they'll send you back a console that's refurbished most times, even if your out of warranty. I don't know one person yet that it has failed. 2. I don't think so. If they already have the development console, that tells you something. 3. Obviously... They'd send you back a retail 360 if you sent it into normal customer support. You tell them specifically you want a development kit replacement. But the entire point of this topic is that I'm asking for someone with more evidence... not assumptions, because I myself can make more educated assumptions based off the actions Microsoft have taken on many of my other friends in a variety of scenarios.
I've gotten 2 new 360's and 2 refurbs in my ownership lifetime. For devkits though, I really don't think it'll work. My friend had to sell his off because of an RROD.
What? When did I state my kit was broken? Thats not the point of this topic. No one has more proof than assumptions? ;x
Well than send in your kit and find out if your that worried, they will asked you questions you wont be able to back up basically as you dont have a leget license for it in the first place.
I'm not worried. Why would I be worried? And you know for fact they question you on license details? And no gamefreak I didn't send out an email yet. I will later.
Only way to find out is to contact microsoft yourself. Most everyone here is just going to give their assumptions because most people haven't been outgoing enough to try something like that with microsoft.
