Hi. I was wondering how people were able to modify games such as Gears of War 2, Call of Duty: Moderwarfare 2 etc. I mean, infinite ammo, super fast melee recovery etc... Did they just track down certain hex values that would change and lock them or something (like the PlayStation Xplorer could )? EXAMPLE VIDEOS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V7CDfo2ZX8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaQOtVNQJiU I am leaning towards flashing my 360 drive, and hacking Gears of War 3 to do what I want
Much like how Action Replay did it back in the day changes the Memory Addresses and such. Sneaky sneaky!!
Flashing your drive will get you no where, as anything you run still would need to be signed. Modify the files and they wont play on your drive flashed xbox.
You can still mod files, just not the executable (.xex). So there's an extent to modding with a flashed drive, but if you want to do such things as MW2, then a JTAGed retail or development kit is required.
And then get caught by CIV and be banned. CIV (Content Integrity Verification) is a new protection used to catch cheaters with hacked drives on XBOX live.
So the JTAG'd 360's let you play unsigned code. Ahhh... ok. When is the 'CIV' check done on the console? Every boot Every game start Every few weeks Every few months Once a year *EDIT* Actually! I think it does it once the game started. Because, I copied Gears 3 to the HDD, and it still does stuff in the background for at least 3-4 minutes before it stops the drive. It does not do this on my CoD 4 or MW2 (before this 'CIV' was introduced).
hehehe i missed noobyness. yeah basically cant run mods without a dev or a jtag, but some games allow you to inject commands /dvars into there save data or game files, most multiplayer games are heavily encrypted and protected so modding them is almost out of the picture. but modding mw2 and cod4 shouldnt be to hard on a stock console as you can inject the dvars into the single player saves. also now that you can save to a usb stick you can basicly 'mod' without any specialist hardware just save to the usb and go stick it in the pc use modio and sorted done. ISO modding: flashing your drive will enable you to played modified disks / backup disks. some games cod5 springs to mind have unenecripted single player files and configs that you can edit and play with to do pretty much any thing within reason and aslong as its in the spec of the game. flashing has the downside that it can easierly be detected as there is security data held in the disk eg checksums blah blah blah so they can check if you changed stuff so you are quite easy to detect. Basicly if you wanna mod get a jtag look on noob forums like se7ensis and tech game till you get your bairings and there will be alot of tools out there to help you out also STAY THE FUCK OFF LIVE while modding
I dunno for sure, but CIV coald be done by MS dash at anytime and Gamemakers themself maybe implement it also to do every time a file gets loaded. What is more inportant for modding, will it allow mods offline, so you can explore and change. Online Ill say, JUST DONT DO IT. ;-) I dont like cheaters, and actualy, nobody. Offline is fine, and maybe you can turn it of. (offline), Jtag OR that new clitch trick. a friend got this new Xbox where the clitch wont work, so he is out of luck. I started researching all the reasons of Jtag hacks, which ones are beter for my xbox and the way it boots.. you learn allot and learn almost all the risks involved. Also I now am able to change some parts of memory that will alter games... but games and the System(kernel, dash whatever) are checking memory a swell, so assembly is getting tricky... Im back to skool for basic 101 on assembly  Also some people say some parts or all is encrypted, so we have to steal or get the keys.... good luck, most inportantly Enjoy your time learning. I do, its like playing games. nice urls: http://www.xbins.org/nfo.php?file=xboxnfo2160.nfo http://www.xbins.org/nfo.php?file=xboxnfo2116.nfo http://forums.xbox-scene.com/ some forum url http://www.xboxhacker.org/index.php?topic=12306.0 last one is Im going to use to read/write nand, lpt is SLOW, took 4 days to read my 256mb Nand Jasper... dont think so it did for the multiplayer. but you can always clear the memory (cant think of the word dyslexia is being a dick today)
Was talking about multiplayer as the videos haunted showed was multiplayer and clear the cache is what you were looking for, i think.
didnt watch the videos XD just guessed from discription. yeah thats what i ment cache when your brain is fucked is a complicated word
