I have a Xbox 360 kiosk for a few weeks and I can't find anything to do with whats inside one, including the box of tricks that makes it tick. Would anyone like to see a taken apart kiosk?
Does the box of tricks look like this? was wondering if you could take a picture of it all wired up, i have the video cables, controllers and power lead but i`m not too sure about the memory card cable etc.
Well from what I know the Xbox 360 kiosk cannot go on xbox live, the eeprom is not configured, but that may be on early models. Also the hdd is setup different, its in demo mode. But you can slap a normal 360 hdd and it should fuction like a normal retail 360.
I heard general warnings about not messing around with that little box, changing dipswitch setting etc without knowing what you are doing as it could damage a retail unit. For the life of me I cannot remember who told me nor what the exact details were, sorry! It may have been OE so perhaps he can step in and clarify. If it wasn't OE then I apologise for the vagueness of this message. Just be careful, as I know SOMEONE was discussing it!
The Xbox i360 n the Kiosk is a standard xbox 360 (as they all have standard serial numbers and markings), the only things different is the fact it is missing two of the rubber feet so two locking clamps can be fixed into the gap where the rubber feet were. I took out a Asian Xbox from the Kiosk and whacked in a retail UK machine and it's working fine. I'm going to put in a proper joypad into the Xbox whilst it's plugged into the box of tricks and see what it does, as I have a feeling that the box gets the xbox button and then tells the xbox something else so it doesn't allow you to go back to the system menu and play around with the settings. Removing the disc from the drive does put you into the xbox system menu and you have everything a retail xbox can do. The dipswitchs are just marked "location" for everything except for 2 dips on the right which control how much time you can play before it does an enforced reset. (Can't remember the time limits). I will dismantle and take pictures of the unit later this week, including showing how everything is plugged in and wired up.
