Just wondering if anyone on the forum has one of these XBox 360 launch Consoles and can confirm the date it was made.
My Launch Team Console is November 9th 2005, they always pre-date the Zero Hour Launch unless they've been repaired. But original manufacturer date is before November 22nd 2005.
This is why he was asking, he PM'd me on this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=231141439872&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123 In my opinion, it's a fake paint job. I asked seller for updated pictures of the HDD seal since it cannot be opened and repainted easily as the vents which can be removed without blowing the console warranty seal. Colour looks off.
Not sure about that one. Taking a look at mine it could be correct. The light reflects off the controller similarly in real life. It's hard to tell for certain without laying hands on the console though. The serial number and/or manufacture date would do a lot to authenticate it. From my initial surveying the serial numbers are in a moderately tight range.
It is true the camera could just be awful or the flash messing about with the colour. It just doesn't appear dark enough. Here is the PM I feel won't be an issue to share. "I watched your video on the 360 launch Console, I was wondering if you remember the dates on the back of the units. Basically there is a Launch Console on eBay with the UK plate, but I think its a home made job, as the tint of the green has too much yellow and the seller replied to me after questioning, that he feels its been painted and the date of the console is DEC 2005, I'd imagine all Launch' would be pre-nov 22. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=231141439872&fromMakeTrack=true What do you think?"
The seller messaged me back on ebay. States he "cannot add pictures now, ebay won't allow it". I am guessing since the auction is almost ended. I gave him my direct email to send pics.
I checked another US launch console and it's also November 9th. Perhaps the UK and US consoles were done in different batches? He does mention it doesn't appear to have been opened. The seal is still intact and the paint application on the console side plastics is very similar to one I have here. I'm curious as to how PayPal would settle if it turned out to be simply pained. It's being sold as an official launch console.
True, didn't think about that. Here is his latest message to me. I don't care about my ebay user name being in the thread. "Dear anonymousmedic2012, Both warranty seals are missing if that helps. - greenemac"
Final auction price $303.31. At the least there is the working controller, 20gb HDD and a Jtaggable dashboard with a rare faceplate. If it's not real, a decent price. If it is somehow legit, one helluva deal!
Seller agreed it was a fake before the auction ended.... Dear syclopse, You are probably right. Its an early launch model. I bought it from another Ebayer and assumed it was a launch team. Thanks for the info... - greenemac Dear syclopse, The manufacture date is Dec 2005. I now believe the plastics could be painted. - greenemac
Yeah, it makes sense given the fact it went so cheap. But like I said, working console for parting out and a jtag job, a decent price.
Not true, mine was manufactured Dec 24, 2005 (foxcon doesn't get time off for christmas, i guess). I always assumed they were all manufactured after launch, but I guess that means they made more than one batch. http://imgur.com/a/mC2XP Also, that one on ebay, the HD looks like a paint job (it should be shiny), and that UK launch team plate was handed out like candy for some reason.
I'm guessing the one you acquired originally RROD and the owner slapped the 2 green plastics on a working console. All references I've read stated November 9 2005, if they were used originally most likely they RROD and that's how yours ended up with a 12-24-2005 date, be silly for an original 360 launch member console to be dated after the Launch date. I'm looking for a HDD and controller myself if anyone knows of one for sale/trade.
I'm the original owner of the console, I didn't get it until february or so after I had bought my own console. I didn't expect to get one, as I wasn't an MS employee. I'm guessing they made a second run for the 'partners' similar to the 'thanks for partnering' Xbox1. Instead of making a 2nd console design, they just cranked out more of the original.
Very odd, if true perhaps they made a 2nd batch for all the "Oops forget about <name>". Why did you receive the Launch Team 05 console if not employed at Microsoft, worked for a partner? I've just been molded not to believe everything on the internet that you read.. Out of the blue question now, are you ProgrammingAce from this site back in 2006?
