Does somebody know if the Xbox 360 supports progressive video output (via Yuv) for watching DVD movies also ? I know that this wasn't the case with the first Xbox, although there's a hack possible to also put out the movies in progressive mode.
Sure I heard the 360 would be compatible. The first XBOX needs a mod chip and something along the lines of XBMC to play prog scan DVDS
Some games won't even be true HD. CHeck this out.. http://www.bizarreonline.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=157200&highlight=#157200 Taken from here: http://games.slashdot.org/games/05/11/11/2110226.shtml?tid=211
madhatter256: Too big a deal made out of that IMO, it's still much higher than NTSC standard, and only because they wanted it out for launch and didn't have time to use the 360's tile rendering which would have eliminated the problem anyway. And it's also one of those things you wouldn't actually notice during gameplay, cheats or no, PGR3 is stunning. Assembler: Yup, a shame, but not the fault of MS. The DVD Consortium does not allow for upscaling of CSS encrypted streams over analog connections :-(
So don't upscale css movies, I could care less. I already have a fine dvd player. CSS would only concern movies, correct? There's no reason game resolution can't be 1080p
Sure there is: memory, cpu. High Res isnt free you know But all xbox 360 games must run in at least 720p (1280x720) and they can do 1080i if the developer can squeeze it. Also, like 3 tv's out right now do 1080p afaik, and nothing (tv show wise) is broadcast in 1080p. So 720p and 1080i are more than enough heh, 720p looks freakin great.
With six cores, every game should be 1080i. Shit, even xbox does 1080i and that sucker has been out four years.
