I was surfin' the web and just now found what looks like a proto 360 mobo or perhaps from a dev machine, with obvious differences from the retail board. Interested in your comments. And for comparison: http://www.informit.com/content/images/art_fogie_xbox360/elementLinks/fogie_fig09.jpg Edit: This should probably be moved to the Xbox Discussion forums.
Wow, i dont own a 360 yet nor do I have much experancie with their mobos. However I do think: Big Ass Fans > Heatsinks I can see why heatsinks are used over fans as its one less thing that can break down and most people dont like the noise fans generate. I on the other hand like to compare electronics to muscle cars. My computer has 9 fans in it and sound like a jet engine lol.
Indeed, this is a proto motherboard and the LEDs were placed there by Microsoft engineers to aid testing and debugging. "If the lights are glowing, then current's flowing!"
You have to work with me here people... What's missing from the picture? - Power supply - Dvd Drive Notice the removable hard drive to the left of the picture? That tells you how early they knew about that feature. Looks like they have the JTAG interface running too. And take a closer look at a few of the chips...
From what I've been reading, the fact that Microsoft was going to release the Xenon/360 as "hard drive optional" console from the start.
