Hi guys, I recently was given a reviewer kit console from 2005 and was wondering if anyone knows the differences between it and a regular console. I know it has beta firmware, but that's about it. I'm wondering if it is able to play games, could be updated (and if it updates to regular firmware or dev firmware), and if there would be any advantage to keeping the beta firmware.
Not too sure on the differences, but you'll definitely want to keep the current firmware. Changing it to a retail firmware will greatly drop the price, should you plan on re-selling it.
You can setmem, but you can't readmem. Also, most reviewer kits seem to get bricked upon connecting to PNET. Seems like they've since been retired. -Doom
reviewer kits are final xenon 011, they are full devs just minus the ports for a sidecar or lampray. there pretty rare nowerdays seeing as they were retired immidiatly and replaced with test and demo kits. yeah dont go near pnet it will brick instantly..
So if it will brick if connected to pnet then I'm guessing it's no good for actual development then? Should I try to install standard firmware to play games on it or will that mess it up too?
