My 360 Slim with a Lite-On drive won't eject. I can still pop it open with a paper clip, but I can't get it to open. Microsoft won't take it (I got it used and it had been opened up already) and the drive belt looks to be in good shape, any ideas?

I can post pictures if requested.

Open it up. and have a look at the DVD driveboard and see if some one tried to use the "Kamikazi Drill method" to mod it,you can easily tell if he that as there will be a hole drilled trough the Mediatek IC, lots of the time people just dont know how to do it properly and drill too deeply causing veriose errors, like the drive tray not ejecting and the laser not reading.

If he did do the kamikazi drill method try this fix: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?p=421053

Be warned lots of the time its so bad the not only the drive stops ejecting but it stops reading in which case you need to buy a replacement drive control PCB, Team Xecuter has a nice one, with some luck you can still get the keys from it, els you need to RGH the system.

It doesn't look like it, although someone may have covered it up (also does that chip always have this much glue?).

Nope thats never been drilled :)

What you can allso check is ,if you trace the wires on top of the controller board, two will goto the drive motor, and rest will go to switches, check to see that all the switches are still intact, especially the bidirectional switch with 3 wires, lots of the time when the console drops that switch comes loose, or brakes off, but can be easily clipped back in or glued in if the clips are broken.

Allso a silly thing to check is if the "rubber ring" (cant remember the name in English) that connects the drive motor to the eject mechanism is still intact, and if the gears aren't jammed by a foreign object.

Try re-aligning the tray. Not sure if it applies to the 360 drives but usually that helps too.

I didn't see anything broken or hanging out in the drive, and it still doesn't open automatically. Could it be a bum motor?

A little bit, it sounds almost as if the drive is jammed on something, but it looks clean all the way through.
