It's a prototype slim from when they were still finalizing the design. A lot of them were made, so they're not very rare. There are many floating around out in the wild. Have several of them here. There are much more rare ones -- e.g. earlier prototypes, white, and crystal clear. Value-wise, it's not worth all that much compared to what it was a few years ago, but it's still worthwhile holding onto though for collection's sake at least.
Is it just me, or does the power connector look the same as the one that was shown on the back of the XBox One last week?
its a nice bit of kit mate (especially for a gift, lucky you!) and although not worth a great deal its a nice bit of history
Mind linking meh? I have never used anything outside amazon and ebay so I am rather lost >__< EDIT: NVM found some! EDIT2: Ok I am going to need some help here as I just don't understand which "package" is better or if its even a legit seller :/ what's the rule on a taobao link to a XDK?
General rule of thumb is that you're likely to end up with a quickly repaired unit that was originally sent to a recycler to be destroyed. That's if you end up with a legit XDK (versus a modded retail).
I see.... the ones I am looking at have "packages" with each containing different things like cables and such actually here is the link http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=0.0.0.0.KnQufA&id=17838067715 are any of those good? what is the difference in the packages? and what is that "XDKEX" that it mentions at the end? I am just starting out with Xbox 360 stuff so I have no idea
The seller is talking about various "pulse" chips. Basically, he's selling RGH modded retails with the XDK software loaded. If you want a true XDK for collection, look elsewhere. If you want a RGH system, might as well just do it yourself or buy local.
Chinese friend of mine warned me that some of those devkits can be just hacked retails. Others are indeed most-likely fixed garbage consoles. I only got stuff from Taobao when I was in china, outside you properbly need an agent or good luck. also, just like Ebay, check the ratings of a seller, and you can chat with them (in chinese )
