    Hi
    Is this image accurate?
It reads: "cold air" in blue and "hot air" in red.

If so I'm planing to put a fan on the left side (the side where the DVD drive is)

Other side, when laying flat (like it should), the fan exhausts. There is little in the way on the right hand side so the air is going the path of least resistance.
Also remember the slim has riser feet so even if you stand it up air can still pass correctly*

    * when used on a flat hard surface

I forgot to say I'll use the slim flat (horizontally) I just wanted to confirm that the "cold" air is on the left and the hot air goes away on the right side(from facing the console perspective)

The fan pulls air out of the console, cool air get pulled in from both sides

So I can place the external fan either on the right or left side?

Are you sure that on the right side it won't push hot air inside? Thanks!

Yeah, the slims single fan is an exchaust, the vents on the sides are inlets so to speak..
The one on the left is rather restricted by the dvd drive however..

Seeing as the console is modded, why not replace the fan with a better one and turn up the minimum fan speed?
Even with a stock console you can do this, there is a small product you can buy that multiplies the PWM signal (speed signal sort of) to the fan.

However seeing as you are using a glitched console, there should be a way to set the minimum fan speed but still have it ramp up when needed.

To answer you question, the way you have the fans in the picture will be fine

the little PWM piece is not the same thing as setting 30%,35%,40%,45%... on the dashlaunch ?

I don't feel like opening it to replace with another cooler. A good thermal paste is quite expensive here and I'd rather use it in 50%, 55% .. it's not that loud.

I honestly don't know, I'd assume it would be the same ( ramping over the set speed if need be)

In that case try the fans on the side, experiment a little and be sure to Asher the results :)

Could you just ask someone that you know if placing the cooler on the right side is safe please? I want to be 100% sure because I don't ahve any cent to buy another Xbox if this one dies.

Interesting.. the cooler on the left side takes down 3,8C while on the right side (near the CPU/Cooler) only 1,8C
