I have a UK xbox 360 that I want to use in the US.

Anyone know if I can buy a US power supply and plug it into a UK xbox360?

(b.t.w played Res Evil 4 on Wii and it looks excellent...wavebird is a bit sensitive tho)

the wavebird is as responsive as the standard (new) controller. no more, no less - and I should know, I ve played on my cube since the first day it came out in the US!:D

Should not be an issue on the 360. power supply to 360 is identical on all regions. Difference is from power supply to wall outlet

You can, but you'll need to order it through Microsoft. I have never seen them available elsewhere (other than ebay, for more than Microsoft charge).

Or you can hack together your own power cables and use a PC power supply like I do :)

Or buy a set-up transformer, though it would probably cost more than ordering from Microsoft due to the power requirements of the XB360.

    Many thanks for the responses...

I tried the M$ website but can't see anything about buying a new PSU.

I tried Gamestop and they were amazingly *UNHELPFUL*....

I asked the guy what kind of connector from the PSU the the wall socket and he blanked. He couldn't be bothered checking a 360 for me either...

Could anyone verify the connector from PSU to wall socket looks like this in the USA?

Taucias - you're right about the cost of a power convertor - the wattage rating on the xbox360 is huge and a convertor for that wattage is expensive...

Your PSU clearly states 200-240V. The US is 120V. You will need a WHOLE NEW PSU.

The main issue, past that, is whether the NTSC 60Hz television will accept a PAL 50 / 60 Hz signal.

Retro - thanks for saying, but I'm trying to buy a US power supply (the pic is of my UK power supply which is useless in the US).

The bit I'm unsure about is the three prong bit - has the US one got a three prong bit?

Also is the input to the US xbox 360 the same as UK?
    12V 16.5A 5Vsb 1A

    Thanks

Why would the three prong bit matter? That is where the mains lead goes, and you cannot use a UK mains lead!

You need to replace the WHOLE unit... i.e. the PSU plus the mains lead. UK leads are different from US leads.

The end you should be looking at is that which goes into the 360! It is the same, don't worry!

You should be able to find a PSU over there without too much trouble. As I say, it is the TV you need to worry about. Oh, and getting PAL games in the US! ;-)

*EDIT* here is a UK mains plug:

    And a US plug:

Hopefully you can see what I mean. You must replace the PSU because it runs at 240V. You must replace the mains lead also because it is a UK mains lead.
