hi when i had my ps3 slim 120gb that i bought for $100 had no controller so i plugged in an old joystick i had and it worked but only 2 buttons on it worked and the little d-pad on it so i was able to navigate the menus and open my videos ect also tried another usb controller on looked like ps1 controller and it worked fine so what i wanted to know will the xbox 360 work with a generic usb controller as i just bought an xbox 360 for $25 works fine just no hdd or controller i don't really care for now if im not able to play games as long as i can navigate the menu ect as a usb controller that is made for xbox 360 where i live will cost $40+ and a wireless one $80 i will pick one up if i find one on the cheap second hand but for now a $5 generic one will do if it will work
Nope, Microsoft was ridiculous about controlling which controllers could work on their system. You might want to look into a 360 remote, or I think the Smartglass app for Android/iOS will work for the remote feature (I know it does that for XB1). Otherwise it's pretty much useless.
Smart Glass is probably the best way to go since it's free but you'll need the 360 and phone connected to the same connection for it to work. So in other words you'll need to use Wi-Fi since you can't plug a LAN in to a phone. The 360 can be connected via LAN though.
