Dont know if its related but the component cable thats included sucks horribly. Its the only one that hates my system selector, and makes these awful lines stream across my screen when the 360 is getting powered.

Wierd, I have both the component and VGA cables and no problems with either.

TV is a 51" Sony KP51-WS520, and the monitor a 19" Xerox LCD.

I have a HD tv, and a vga cable for my pc screen for when the 360 is being "examined"

The game, unless it is high resolution won't look good on a high resolution screen.

I have a 19201200 resolution, and emulate xbox games at 480 look like dog shit, plain and simple.

Perfect dark is still only 720P, so it still looks like crap. However, I get a close up level of detail not found on a TV, like a dreamcast witha vga cable, all the sudden you can read labels and serial numbers on guns.

DOA4 is 1080i and that so far is the best looking game.

The cable is a bit of a strange beast, as it says it only supports max 720 yet
my 360 allowed me to config up to resolutions of 1600xwhatever.

There's very little on/in the package about the cable. It is VGA, not HDMI, so
the cable has a crappy blurry look to everything.

I would say if I had to rate the cable it would get a 4/10 as it's useful
for people who need their unit near their pc.

The audio out cables are too short to reach anything meaningful, the signal is blurry and mediocre, and the cable is very expensive.

But if you're like me, you have your 360 set up to switch back and forth on your
screen in free moments from work on the PC, it's the only solution.

I dont know what you guys mean about lines or anything, the vga cable works great, but i just dont get very good colors, with the dreamcast vga box i get gorgeous colors, but not with 360.

They supposedly have a hdmi cable in the works, which means I'll need an all new expensive cable, and a hdmi to dvi-hdmi converter...

VGA cables work great with my system. Actualy work best on CRT then LCD screens. My GF PC for some reason wont suport of the higher res yet my CRT at work suports them perfectly (1280xsomething). So on my gf monitor things are a little streched verticaly.

    --ediit--
Also I find it ****ing great microsoft actualy included everything needed like the gender changer (to allow male to male connection) & Audio to stereo jack.

for sure looks good on crt, but try it on a digital device like a flat panel. looks so-so unless the game supports at least 1080i

The VGA cable works great on my CRT, kind of a let-down that you can only get 720p though...

I know you said the rez is there, this still might be the problem... (as was the case with mine even though it looked like it had the full resolution on the monitor but not my TV)

Just in case, make sure you change your 360's system settings for maximum resolution. I think the default max is 480p or so. That confused me for a bit when I got my HDTV and nothing looked very good.

My VGA works great, even through the HD Projector here at work. I have had no problems with colors or audio after I changed my max output resolution.

People complain about the 360 VGA cable being "expensive" but quickly forget that the DC required the purchase and use of an "expensive" VGA box.
The option is there, that's what counts.

i had it at the max, but it was 4:3 (12xx x 1024?) and switched back to 720p which is 12xx by 720, the colors just dont look as colorful as my dc vga box, i've google it and more people complain about the color.

I got a VGA cable on the way (M$ Brand, New in Box) for 18$ shipped. In the store they wanted 40$ plus tax! o_O I too got it because I don't have a high def TV but I sure as hell have a decent LCD monitor for my PC.
