The cable for my Xbox 360 wired controller broke and instead of replacing the cord or the controller, I wanted to install a standard USB jack so I can use regular USB cables.

Problem is, my Multimeter broke and I can't afford a new one right now. I have a bunch of USB cables so I was wondering if someone could give me a pinout of the controller's cable from both the USB side and the controller's PCB side.

Any help would be highly appreciated as it will cost me no money and I can be prepped for GTAV on PC with my closest friend.

It would be a lot easier just to install a new usb cord to it.

The pinout should be the same as a stranded usb cable.

I just looked up the USB pinout and apparently it is color coded. That makes life easier because the controller's PCB has the same colored wires coming out of the cable.

I believe the red one is +5V, the one next to it is Data -, then Data +, And the last one is ground.

I opened it up and there were only three wires soldered: red (+5V), black (ground), and white (Data-). The green wire (Data+) is nonexistent. Is it required?

Now that you mention it, I do remember the green wire now. Thank you all for your help! Should I buy a replacement cable or use one of my USB cables? Some of my standard cables might be USB 1.1 but I don't know if it would make a difference if I used a 1.1 or the faster 2.0. How can you tell if a USB cable is 1.1 or 2.0?

Any standard usb cable should work, just match the wires up and it should work fine.
