Hey guys, I got a fatal problem. My Xbox 360 controllers woun't work correctly due to bad battery contact, I think. It just woun't turn on or turns on for a while. I tryed different batteries, rechargable batteries, but 1st works a bit, 2nd woun't work any way. Swap of battery holders changes nothing. Also I stretched springs, it helped for the 1st gamepad for some time, 2nd still dead. Now I have 2 dead game pads, both are 5 years old. I discovered this when I decided to play a bit GTA V after my Xbox hadn't turned on for 6 mounthes~. I got new batteries, they worked a bit, and then I have them dead again. It's really strainge. What I can do with them? I would like to fix it by myself, cuz I don't have money for replacement or repair. Thanks.

Do you have a battery tester - are the controllers draining the battery fast or just cutting out?

Draining fast would indicate a short or possibly a Bluetooth issue, just cutting out may be dry solder joints that are opening as the controller warms up.

I use these in my controllers, they work great, look super clean and weigh less than 2 Duracells.

Have you tried using a play and charge kit's cable without a battery plugged in? It will basically be the same as a wired controller but won't work on PC. If it still has issues, then the controller needs serious repairs.

I'm pretty sure the 360 controllers use 2.4 GHz RF signals and not Bluetooth. I could be wrong but I remember hearing they aren't Bluetooth.

Yep that's correct. They use a proprietary 2.4 Ghz signal.

I don't have wired connector, and yes - I tryed new batteries and charged batteries, I think that my controllers cutting out.
With PC they are also not working, I think that it's not console issue.
That's strainge that they are dead after some time being unused.

If they are wireless controllers they wouldn't work on pc even if you had the charging cable. They will only work with the wireless adapter for the PC. You could try stretching the springs on the bottom of the battery pack. That's what I did when my controller kept turning off.

I had a similar problem with my Xbox 360 wireless controller. The controller turned off from time to time even with new batteries. I also tried to fix the springs.

Finally I found a solution: Turn the rumble feature off. Since the controller doesn't vibrate anymore the contact to the batteries is stable.

I had the same problem turning the rumble worked for a bit... it's the battery holder doesn't make contact anymore so I put a small piece of aluminum in the little square on the back of the battery pack and it works..
