Hi, So working back from this post I made a while back HERE I thought it would be useful for those who are interested in XeDK / Beta / Prototype kits. It is an official Microsoft video, but from before release so they were still using prototype hardware. I've included screen grabs for all of you too 1:02-1:04 Pan across some engineers working on the kits, then a static shot of one engineer with a kit. Screen grab: 1:06 The engineer working on a titan board Screen grab: 1:14-1:16 Not really anything great, just an engineer working on a prototype kit, next to what I assume is an original xbox debug shell / console Screen grab: 1:24-1:26 Engineer powers on a prototype kit with a remote (tuned to right frequency for xbox?) and you can also see the barcode sticker, that we sometimes see on some kits. Screen grab: 1:33 Guy is holding a prototype kit, with a label on, which I assume is for evaluation purposes, but more importantly, the fans are on top of the heat sync Screen grab: 1:46 This guy somehow time traveled and read this thread and couldn't believe the quality and content Screen grab: 2:15 Original logo on chip as seen in prototype kits Screen grab: 2:28-2:34 Here is a quick shot of the prototype design builds, you can pause the video if you spot one you like, but its probably easier to look here on a photo chart of them, as you can see, one from the right, at the bottom is a beta kit, or at least has a beta faceplate. 2:56 / 2:57 You have to be fast to see this one, but its a picture of a Radon controller, the first prototype, before Krypton. Screen grab: 3:10 Again, be fast for this one, but on the green blade, instead of the xbox 360 logo, there is a original Xbox logo instead. You can also see '<#>' which I'm guessing is where the xbox would call for a description from live, or just was not completed. Also, the gamertag is in the 'Xbox 1 Zone', very hipster. Screengrab: 3:24-3:27 BONUS! Did you know it was surround sound? These guys obviously do! 3:27-3:30 BONUS #2! She can act! Who would've known there is no controller in her hand??! 3:40-3:42 Prototype (crude?) headset plug? Screen grab: 4:14-4:17 Not really 360, but what look to be original Xbox debugs and development kits. Maybe the obscure black debugs at the far end? Screen grab: 4:18-4:20 Major Nelson with a black original Xbox debug kit Screen grab: 4:35-4:39 BONUS #3! (Aren't you lucky?) Your own gamerscore, awwwwwwwwww yeahhhh!! Thanks for reading and hope it helped in someway or another!
Sorry to double post, but it wont let me post more than one video at a time, I was going to say, have this nostalgic cookie for reading my thread.
Time to dig through my old XeDK stuff, I will post more later XD Some tidbits of info: Pre 1839 the beta kits either didn't have a CPU key or atleast it wasn't tied into the nand. Beta kits can run anyone's pre 1839 nand without worry, so it is another way to run a "recovery" on them. Beta kits need the titan board for some cpu debugging? in order to run. Microsoft destroyed the ports on these kits and shipped them to china to be fully destroyed, where many were recovered, repaired, and resold.
@halo3 Nice pictures mate. Thanks for the info. Yeah, Microsoft had to render the kits useless for China because of a law they have over there I believe. @Stipo360 Glad to help Same here about te shivers haha
nice photos ^o^ interesting video, i liked the part with water-cooling, when you know all the problems they had with RRoD x)
I have noticed that before in that vid too, what did it mean by "watercooled heatsink solution"? You mean there is water is those heatsinks?
