I'm on a phone with no wifi so you'll have to imagine a white Xbox 360 with no hard drive or cables made in 2008......

Identify which chipset your motherboard uses first. Very important.

A 213W (Development PSU) or a 203W (Xenon [first gen] PSU) will work on a 2008 console. It's more than likely a zephyr which is the first pic from the left Cyantist posted.

Nah, it's more than likely a Falcon or one of the early Jaspers given that's the time period Falcons were being produced and Jaspers were first starting to appear.

Haha, you could practice reballing on it. Better it be broken for good in an attempt to learn, than in your oven while trying to reflow.

We'll tbh I would suggest just asking in a second hand shop if they have any spare( they probably will from all the RROD consoles that got returned) but if there is nowhere local you can find one and can't borrow one from a friend you could always do this to at least see if it work before spending too much time trying to find a genuine power supply

Yeah it's dirty and not exactly a recommended thing to do, but back when the xbox360 launched I got a NTSC console from a friend and had it running on a atx power supply for a few years XD

but again I wouldn't be expecting too much from it, probably just a RROD console that avoided the bin :p

Yeah I have had a few decent xbox 360's but I always check
    a) if it's been opened before
    b) the motherboard revision

i don't really risk it with anything that's been opened before as you never know what the hell was done to it, a few friends have picked up consoles and asked me to look at them.......inside one of them someone had from the looks of it, chucked a pot of bolts and washers the where kinds wedged in place but a few where free and rattling around in the console.......so I don't usually risk it

i also tend to stick to picking up jasper consoles or slims's funnily enough I got a corona slim today for £15 with power supply all working fine :)
