Quick question: Are xbox debugs supplied with power supplies specific to region, or are they multi-voltage?

I'm using a 220v UK unit in the US via a step-up transformer - I don't like to leave the transformer on 24/7, but xbox's tend to lose their clock settings fairly quickly when unpowered - so I was wondering if I could use the local 110v supply? Can any confirm/deny?

The power supplies are specific region, but you can swap out a the 220v with the 110v power supply and it will work just fine.

Thought that might be the case - any suggestions as to where's a good place to get the replacement supply from?

Limey, I actually have a US Xbox PSU sitting here that I offered to Pikkon ages ago and he'd already sourced one. If I remember rightly it is the newer PSU and has hardly been used. I bought an NTSC Xbox and the seller had bricked it when he moved back to the UK. The PSU is going spare and you are welcome to it for free if it would suit. Must admit however, it might be cheaper / easier to source one in the US. I.E. just buy a dying unit from someone and swap out the PSU.

You'll need to make sure the edge connector from PSU to motherboard is the same however.

In order to establish which version of Xbox you have and the necessary PSU look here: http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/repairs.htm

There are a number of options, and I left it on the main page for repairs so that you can have a hunt around. But you need to select "Identify Xbox version". Once you know that you can confidently buy an Xbox and know what internals it has without opening it.

The psu you have Parris is for a V.12 thru V.15 I believe,Limey will need a V.10 to V.11 psu.

Ah. I think you may be correct. I'm pretty sure, just from the manufacturing date/location that it's a first version box.

Ha! I am so glad you remembered as I sure as hell couldn't! They can be converted fairly easily, but in this instance sourcing one in the US would be far simpler I suspect!

I had no idea that playasia stocked spare parts like power supplies...
