So, i use unleash x on my 2001 xbox. Stupidly when removing a game, i accidently somehow must of removed a essential file. Now, when booting, the screen is perma black after the xbox intro. I need a restore CD if anyone has one. Since it can run unsigned code, a cd enabled installer for Evox or Unleash X would do nicely. Much help would be very appreciated.
You could always do what I'm going to do to an original xbox that doesn't read games, Open it up hotswap the drive once it's unlocked and re-install the mod from the PC .
The unfortunate part is that i have no available PC i would trust to do the hotswap. The other problem is, my ethernet port on the xbox is dead. Like i had said the only way i can fix it is a possible bootable install cd for a dashboard.
Alright, well... if you can boot unsigned code I'm pretty sure all you'd need to do is take unleashed X or such and drop it on a dvd/cd with the default.xbx file in the root of the layout and then you'd be rocking again use the file manager to copy over whatever you need. Afaik there was never a dashboard installer released that could be used from just a DVD or such (Although I'm probably wrong considering the exploit installer would probably suffice if you extracted the stuff and dropped it on a dvd plain like that). So basically in theory you should be able to take one of the various exploits out there rip one apart grab the installer code and drop it on a CD/DVD(Installer's default.xbx in the root of the drive). Essentially all the exploits did was overflow the game and execute code (What that code was I've never looked into, but assuming it was just told to launch an external XBX rather then code being injected into memory with the exploit or embedded in the save then you'd be golden.) Bit of googling and came across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBeodCEh6qM Not sure if it'll work but anything is worth a shot.
If you have an IDE to USB converter (about $2.00) off amazon, you can hotswap the drive then open it up in xplorer360. From here you go into partition 3 (C drive) and fix any files, then you unplug the converter, plug it back into the xbox IDE, then reboot and you should be good. If you don't know what files you need you can just back up all the files, then if you have one, back up the files of a working drive, then restore it to the drive your working on. THere is an option in xplorer that lets you make a bin file as the backup then restore to any drive. If you don't have another working drive then I can upload one of my softmodded unleashX drive backups. This exact same thing happened to me, I could probably do a video tutorial if you really need it.
