Is there anyway to run an emulator on a XBOX without having it chipped? For example running SNES 9x on my standard XBOX. I'm pretty sure this can't be done without modding my xbox but just thought Id see if any of you techies knew a way to do it ;-)

I dont now much about the xbox mod scene, but i beleive that all .xbe apps have to be signed by Microsoft, and one of the many wonderful things a mod chip does is skip that whole authentication thing out...

So, in short, i dont think there is a way.

   )

    actually there is :drinkers:

its called softmodding which involves modding your xbox through a exploiting a hole in a game. Obviously i havent done this, although iv heard it isnt hard (ill stick with my solderless chip ;-) )

  7. You're gonna need Mechassault or 007:Agent Under Fire and a way of getting the Bert & Ernie files on to a memory card.

Yup check out that site and careful what you say here as we don't want Microsoft having a go at us!

I'd suggest not telling anyone how to mod an Xbox on this forum ;-) By all means go visit that link, I believe it is meant to be good! :)

I'm not gonna bother anyway after reading it, think I'll just stick to playing them at 80% speed on my DC :smt042

You lose the ability to play on LIVE if you softmod, as you reflash the onboard bios.

Not with the new chips. Some have Xbox live stealth abilities. :smt045

    Has MS attacked Xbox-scene yet?

I think by "softmod" he means the method which doesn't use a modchip.

Ahh...I have no idea what soft-modding does.

A chip has more features, but it's mighty expensive! :smt083

Chips are cheap -- $35 or so, and are super easy to install. I had never installed anything, and did my own Xbox. You really shouldn't let modding turn you away. The Xbox would be the biggest turd of a machine ever if it weren't for the worlds of fun you can unlock by modding.

The newer gen. 4 chips are $60 a pop, but they're worth it. :smt083

I'm more interested in making a custom dash etc. Piracy sucks ass. :smt067
