I don't get it. Its a commercial thats supposed to be humorous, but is in fact confusing. Didn't microsoft think parents or older people would go out looking to buy a funbox? I think its pretty obvious that they would. Young people laugh and get it while others would really think its a retail product. But funbox doesn't exist, its just a joke, are idiots running thier marketing depatment at microsoft. Last time I checked confusing customers was bad PR.
Not sure how *anyone* would think it's a retail product given that the words "NOT A REAL PRODUCT" appear in big bold letters on the screen. If someone thinks it's real, they got problems. -hl718
Not everyone intently watches commercials and the statement "NOT A REAL PRODUCT" does not appear through the whole commercial, only in the opening seconds. I think its microsoft that has problems making a commercial with mixed signals
I finally found this on google video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5972168744208895243&q=funbox The comercial may be stupid, but i actually think the "funbox" would sell if they were to offer it.
Yeah, I saw this commercial before. Believe it or not, I didnt see the words saying it was fictional until I heard someone mention Xbox. I saw this thing and thought it was real, although I didnt really care for the "mutliple games in a box" crap. I think Wal-Mart does that. They put non selling games in three packs and sell the whole thing for $10. One of my friends bought those 3 packs and in it were the most retarded games on the planet. Diesel truck racing, some old crappy racing game, and something else that sucked (I think it was a racing game, too). Anyways, the whole commercial is dumb. They are promoting something that doesnt exist, and not to mention the fact that the "jokes" are completely idiotic and the insane laughter at the end makes me cringe. I usually want to change the channel when this commerical comes on.
The mom's face scares me:crying: Now seriously, I'm not sure if this ad is just a joke of old sitcoms or one of those "old people oriented" ads.
Is it just me, or does it seem like advertisers (or maybe the entertainment business as a whole) are getting increasingly desperate for ideas? Seems like they are reaching for weirder and weirder stuff. I wonder if one day they'll run out?
Heh. I was thinking the same thing. Too bad they'll never do it. I also find it funny that this commercial is the only XBox (360 or original) related commercial I've seen in a while. I don't think I've seen a 360 commercial in two months.
I went looking for it online. I've only caught the tail end of the commercial once so I didn't see the warning that it wasn't real. I also think it would be a good idea if priced right.
