I've got a pile of broken xboxs, and I want to make them more useful by using the HDD in PCs as I need lots of small HDDs.

Is there anyway to unlock and format them on a PC without having a chipped xbox? Or should I take my anger out on them with a large hammer?

Couple of ways of doing this, firstly unlock them on the original xbox (either softmod or hardmod) using configmagic or evox does support unlocking

other way is to unlock them on the pc, 2 of the versions of drives are quite straight forward, (seagate rubber, and western digital) llamas page here explains this

    http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Unlocking%20Seagate%20Xbox%20Hard%20Drive.htm

unfortunatly the seagate slim is a lot more difficult to unlock, there are a couple of programs you can use to unlock them, but you have to pay per unit

    hope that helps

I've had to use the hammer before :-(. I had a samsung hard drive, and it wouldn't unlock using the computer method.:banghead:
