perform the vga mod and connect a vga2hdmi after that. Just make sure it doesn't add several ms delay to the picture it shows or your games will become difficult to play.

there was a guy working on a true hdmi mod his name starts with z or oz something he is also working on the dreamcast hdmi mod and i think he also did the n64 hdmi mod and the gamecube hdmi ?
You're thinking of Ozone (electronash on YT). He did a DC one in the works but the one out in the wild now isn't his. Unseen did the GC mod but Ozone had his own version he was working on. I haven't seen or heard from him in a while so I don't know if he is still working on the OG Xbox.
I managed to one of those eBay PS2HDMI adapters working well on my OG xbox, only works at 480p/i though so far. Was just a matter of hooking it up. Picture is alright with no noticable lag.
i use official component cables for my ps2 to a mini hdmi box and it works perfect ! same for xbox but chinese component cables suck ass
I’ve got the official MS component cable for my OG Xbox (the rare cable version, not the HD AV box) and it looks beautiful. I’ve been told by OG Xbox experts that it is the best cable for the Xbox. It looks crystal clear for sure. I use the Walmart brand Universal Gaming component cable or whatever it’s called on my PS2. It has s-video along with composite as well. I use it in RGB mode with sync from the s-video’s luma line (using a s-video to RCA y adapter) and it looks great on my PVM. I wish I had the official cables, however.
Its now soldered in internally, but I dont have a picture of it as its boxed away in storage. This is my other cable.. messy but works. I chopped up an old component video box that I got from Toys R Us years ago and basically just matched up the signals from the PS2 video port to that of the xbox. The video pins were shorted to it thinks its component output. The only thing I notice with the cable is that occasionally when you have loud sounds on the xbox (guns, engines revving etc) the sound occasionally cuts out. This doesnt happen on the one I have fitted internally.
