Currently Microsoft offers Trine 2 for Xbox Live Gold members for just 600 Microsoft Points. This is a great price for a great game. However I have only a Xbox Live Silver account. So I bought a 48 hour Xbox Gold trial membership for just 1,- Euro. Unfortunately you do not get the Gold exclusive price for Trine 2 with the trial membership. What a pity, that would have been a nice trick to save some money :(

I'll be really surprised if Trine 2 isn't at least 50% off when the Steam sale finally starts.

    Nothing wrong with this policy.
Why give somebody with trial access the ability to take advantage of a member's-only discounted game or app?

Xbox Live offers a lot of great games, but the price for a game doesn't fall over the years. I don't like that, because when I buy a a game on disc, I can get it for the half price a year later and sometimes even more content will be included when you buy it later (game of the year editions). Xbox Live isn't that customer friendly.

Yeah, the sales on XBLA and PSN are really crappy. There's always a daily deal on Steam plus midweek and weekend deals and two big annual sales, and they do lower the prices unlike XBLA and PSN, where if you're lucky some shitty game like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World may be on sale, but that's about it.
