    Hey guys,

I've had a decent amount of dev stuff come through my hands, but I'm having a tough time figuring out what I have here. I just snagged this on Ebay, and it looks like a normal XBox with a few exceptions:

It has a prototype sticker just like the ones I had on my Debug and Dev Kits, but what is with the "Live Enabled" sticker?

I've never owned a retail XBox, but as far as I can tell this one functions just as one would. Anyone know the story behind these? What function were they supposed to perform? Are they uncommon or desirable? Rough idea of what some have sold for in the past maybe? The only background I have on it is that the person who sold it to me bought it at a flea market in Washington (I think they said Seattle area, but can't remember).

    Thanks for the help!

I've heard of some of those.

That could just be a Retail prototype. Or it can be a devkit that used to be live enabled, but it wouldn't work anymore. Don't think you'll see a dev that goes on retail lol.

Oh wait, is that an Xbox 1? Nevermind then, yes some of those could get on live.

Looks like a similar system as to whats for sale in this thread...

    http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24392

Item number 4, although judging by your picks, your unit looks as if it has the standard black finish to the plastic unlike the one for sale that has the regular clearish green finish of a debug kit.

I doubt its a proto xbox 1 that has live enabled as live as you will be aware wasnt introduced for some time after the launch of the console.

Please bear in mind though that i am no expert in this area, i was actually in the industry during the xbox 1 days however, and never saw a debug/dev unit with the regular black finish to it. All the units i saw in the PAL teritory were either teh regular clearish green debugs are the slightly larger clear development kits.

    Hope this was usefull.

First of all, you rock dude! At least it's been identified, but what the hell is it and what was it supposed to do? Anyone know anything about this model? As far as I can tell (and like I said before, I've never messed around with a retail XBox), it appears to act just like a retail XBox. It's stupid heavy, but I don't have a regular XBox to compare it to.

Is there a way that I can pop this thing open without puncturing any of the stickers? If so, someone want to post a link for the noob?

Thanks for all the help so far guys, let me know if I should snap pictures of anything else that would help identify this thing!

What about the 6/18/03 production date? Also, does anyone with an XBox Live Debug unit have a similar "live enabled" sticker on the bottom?

I've had a Dev Kit and a Debug come through my hands, but this one is even more interesting to me. Very curious if anyone has any other details on one of these units.

concerning the weight of the console you should compare it to the weight of a 360. if its a little heavier the its stock weight but if its alot heavier of heavier than a ps3 then its definetly got some extra bulk inside

Or you know he could just weigh the xbox and then google for the weight of a retail xbox. Might be easier then comparing the weight of a xbox vs a 360 vs a ps3.

Tossed it on my shipping scale which is pretty accurate, came to about 8.2 lbs. Doesn't seem to be atypical, didn't realize how heavy these beasts were.

Got a very helpful PM with the information that is "a test bed for DVT6 H/W, but with the Live! enabled." I'm really excited to have something like this, a unique item to add to the collection.
