I was under the impression that that was some sort of stress/durability test rig. Either for software or possibly even for hardware (given the rather wonky look of the entire thing, so it might've had mobos/DVD-ROMs/whatever pulled in/out frequently)

It's not a server, but actually the rack in which they place the xboxes before testing them/flashing the firmware, EEPROM, etc. with the disks goliathzxb was asking about the other day.
