Hi all I'm trying to use an EEPROM reader on a TSOPED v1.4 xbox and keep getting error 11 in pony prog bus busy or HW failure :/

also there are two different diagrams for this for some reason the one used on llamas website is different to unicorns diagram ://

tried pony under win 7 XP and 98 on two systems, PC sees common port fine

    :/
LLamma's diagram has SCL and SDA in the same point as the Unicorn diagram but where it differs is LLamma's has 5v connected to pin 15 but Unicorn has ground connected.

doesn't SCL carry 3.3v? shouldnt that be enough to power the eeprom to read?

When I'm trying to read with the Xbox on (just have SDA and GND connected I get "Device Not Ready" (Tried on a 1.4 tsop and a vanilla 1.1)

The machines I've tried on are:
775 gigabyte mobo with on board serial, Windows 7 and Windows 98 via VM(this is the latest 775 mobo that came out-DDR3)

P4 Prescott with asus mobo, serial via mobo header to serial, Windows XP and Windows 98

    LLamma's:

Unicorns: this is the wiring diagram I used, my Zeners are the same as this (5.1v) and they are the correct way around

If anyone could help that will be awesome, as its kinda annoying hahaha

Ok so I've rebuilt to cable and still no dice (replaced resistors with new 3.9k )

    Edit::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

ok so I messed up Lolz I wasn't thinking haha I have got it to work 1000% now hehe I thought that I was giving power to the EEPROM via SCL (I'm silly haha shouldn't have been trying this late at night haha)..

because i thought SCL was powering the EEPROM I disconnected it when I was trying to power via the console (in fear of burning up the EEPROM)

haha so I was the fault not the cable or console lol

I wonder why the diagram doesn't pull 5v off the serial port it's there why not use it (maybe it messes with SCL IDK)

i might make a 5V probe using a usb cable and a diode

PonyProg2000 works fine under Longhorn based OS (vista, 7 and probs 8 and 10) don't use compatibility mode (ME) it can't save when doing so..

that's what I love about things like this, I'm always learning something new every day :D
