I was given a non working Xbox, which I took apart to find that it was modded. I made sure everything was plugged in, turned it on and this time it booted, but got a error 16. Took the harddrive out and it won't initialize under windows 7, so my guess is it is bad. Have to dig up another IDE harddrive. I've done searched but haven't had any luck. Most sites are down, or not fully working correctly. I'm looking for more info on the X2 .3b Pro, it has a few plugs coming off of it, would like to know what they are about, and any programs for it. I've never had an Xbox before (got a 360 but it has jtag problems currently) and while not knew to modding stuff, i'm not an expert either. This Xbox unit is very clean and in great shape, so I'd like to get it working. So if anyone has any manuals or what not for the X2 .3b pro, I'd be very happy if you can upload them somewhere for me. thanks. Also, I found a working 120gb HD and put it in, put in a CDR I burnt of Slayers Evox 2.7, but I still get the Error 16 crap. Do I need to do something special to boot off a CD? thanks
Error 16 is a clock error. You should be able to boot off a DVD and install a dashboard. If you completely remove the MSDASH as the original dashboard the problem will go away. This is how I fix systems with modchips with error 16. Download AID and format the Hard Disk, and install UNLEASHX as a modchip install. You should then be good to go.
downloaded AID, made the ISO, burned it, still have the 16. Do I need to do something special to have it boot off the DVD? Decided to check some things, based on what I read. If i have just the DVD drive plugged in, I get 07. If I have just the harddrive in, I get 12. Is that right? And does the jumper setting matter on the HD? But when I plug it all in, and I get 16 and have no idea if it's reading the DVD or not, the DVD is spinning. Even if the HD isn't working, if I had an Xbox DVD, would it play (I don't have any Xbox DVD's, but i can pick on up in 2 days)? And thanks for the help.
It should boot from DVD by default. If you remove the hard disk, or the DVD you'll get different errors that's normal. I'm really unsure why you can't boot from DVD, unless there's sort of issue with the BIOS on the modchip and it's not set to boot from D:/. Error 16, is a clock error, so even if your hard disk was working, or the dvd-rom drive was working it SHOULD boot from DVD by default, no matter what. (Assuming your modchip is functioning) You'd get Hard Disk related errors if the jumpers are set incorrectly like 07, 08, 09 etc. 07 can be caused by a bad DVD-ROM drive power cable, if you have another cable you can try, it might fix problem if it's a timing issue/power. Are you getting a Service Required screen or an "Opps something went wrong" screen? The little plugs on the modchip are programming inputs which requires another PCB (I think), so you can upgrade the bios. Only other solution I can give you is to rebuild the hard disk by XBOXHDM, you'll need a PC with IDE connection.
That is a good possibility. There is a some blue wires coming out of the unit, like it plugged into something, coming off the modchip, any idea what that is for?
You'd have to find the diagram and resolder all the wires to the points. That would be the best way to debug this. There shouldn't be loose wires so, that's how I'd go about it man. Not sure what XBOX version you currently have but follow these guides and verify the install: Link Link
Dead links and the problem is every site that says it has a download link for those files were just the same direct links. Been searching for those pdfs. And I wasn't saying the right things before. the blue wires that come off of the modchip go out the front of the xbox and have a plug similiar to the dvd power plug. the mod chip is the type that has the header of pins that it sits on top of, I think there is only 2 wires actually soldered to anything. Anyways, not being able to find those pdf's is what prompted me to start this thread to begin with. =) So if anyone has copies somewhere it would be appreciated. thanks
Oh crap. Sorry excuse my stupidity. I sent the wrong link. lol Xecuter 2.3b xbox v1.6 diagram Do you have a 1.6? The front panel can still be sourced if you need it badly.
Diagram for Xecuter 2.3B Lite: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hlbq8cgirxs0uhh/Team Xecuter _ Xecuter 2.3B Lite Pin Header Install.pdf Here is nice tutorial for installing X2.3B Lite in 1.6 console: http://xbox.x-pec.com/x23bl-v16/ If your board with switches is missing, you can rebuild it, but for modchip "always enabled" you can try just to ground D0 point. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ca5d7cd8lp2m6j/X2.3B_switch.png
Cool, thanks. It's an Xbox 1.0 actually. The D0 point that is underneath the MB? So would any ground connecting to where that wire hits the pcb work for that?
Can't do that if the system isn't booting up. Well, at least not easily. Generally, if you're going to flash the TSOP, you first need to be able to boot to the MS dash to load an exploited save. Failing that, you would need to wire up an old school chip, boot off that, cut the wires to the chip, then flash the TSOP. Failing that, you would need to manually desolder the chip, flash it and then re-install it.
okay. If if i could get it working easy, it would be great. But since it wants to be a pain, I'm not worried about it. I have a Wii I use for emulators. I appreciate all the help and info. Probably just going to say forget it on this, not enough interest to get it working now. thanks for all you help.
