Well, i got myself a unit that has a modchip installed. I booted the machine and it has the usual dashboard. How can i install some emuzzzz on a unit like this? Do i have to make the softmod thingie?
is there a switch to turn the chip on? did you tried starting the console with the eject button? maybe there is another dash installed and booted that way. Else, hopefully the modchip works and is able to boot copied dvd's, get slayersdisk or whatever. (no recent softmod myself) but if the modchip works or fixable you dont need a softmod. when the xbox bootsup, under the logo, Microsoft or something else? "example"
Good way to tell is to boot a backup... Depending on the BIOS it might have the standard LED no matter if the chip is enabled or not. To install another dashboard the simple way of doing this would be to download AID and run it.
The unit plays backups. When i boot he unit with a backup a red logo pops up at top left and after that the game plays fine. If i don't have a backup inside the tray, the logo doesn't appear and the system goes to the usual green screen with the system settings. I will try to take a picture.
I'm guessing you're running an EvoX BIOS. If you can boot up backups, then download and burn AID. Set up your dashboard of choice.
AID as Auto Installer Dexule. I see that the latest version is 4.53. Any reommendations on dashboards . Also if i am guessing right, i install a dashboard and after the emulators.
Yes, you use Enigmah Video Mode Switcher to switch your PAL XBOX to NTSC video mode, then you can enable 480p,720p and 1080i through the MSDASH or UnleashX. This requires component cables as well.
Huhu, ok i got unleashx installed after a couple tries (i tried first modchip install but eventually i looked up the logo that was popping up and it was an evox bios). My motherboard is 1.6, i try to install chimp as an app and i get a green screen, the machine doesn't do anything and i must reboot. If i want to upgrade the disk, i must install it on my xbox or is there any other way.
You don't need chimp if you have a modchip. Just drop the new Hard Disk in your XBOX and start up AID and it will detect the new Hard Disk and install everything for you.
Well i think the unit doesn't have a modchip. As you said the logo that i mentioned was an evox logo, after i did the softmod installation with aid it doesn't show up. So do i have to install chimp as an app or i can boot to a live cd with chimp on. Sorry for the trouble.
Ok i have installed some emus but i want to remove them and install coinops. Can i remove them from the menu of unleash x?
CoinOPS is shit. Not sure why many think it's 'so good'. You're best to use individual emulators. Organization is a mess, and takes forever to boot and some games controls are badly configured.
Xmm ok i will stick with the emulators that i have installed but i am a little bit confused about mame, what version is and which roms supports. I don't want to download the full latest romset because i don't think that xbox supports it.
The normal standalone emulators for the XBOX work with just about every ROM. I've made many emulation XBOXes for people and never had issues with ROMs. Only limitation you have is filenames.
OK, i almost there, i have cloned the disk to a bigger one. Uploaded some mame stuff but most of them don't work, i get an out of memory message. Also some say that some files are missing. Also i have some segacd games, in iso with wav files format, the emu doesn't load the wav files. Is possible to change an option to make it see the wav files or else what can i do.
