    Hey guys,
I was out doing some shopping at my local Half Price Books and I found a brand new/factory sealed I Made this Console. The funny thing is that I wanted this for a long time but I did not want to pay close to a grand for one. Sure this was still expensive but within my price range.

Damn... that is cheap.. hope you snatched it up!

Only difference is the "I MADE THIS" logo, but still a launch team console none the less. Other than that i believe the console is the same as the sunset overdrive edition. Ive never had it in me to open mine, its packed up in storage still sealed with the extra white controller.

I also could not believe that something like this was in fact sealed. At first the price sticker said as is and I thought this would be missing something inside. I was disappointed at first that I would not be able to see the system. But I know that keeping it sealed is the right thing to do so it will never be opened in my hands.

Great price, even better that it's sealed, keep your eyes peeled at the store for the controller that shipped in a separate box.

Yeah, they looked at the item, and copied it's label. Doesn't mean they knew what it was or how one comes across one.

    Hey there Hex1gon!
I forgot to mention that when I checked out, the employee said that this was from a Microsoft developer. So I think that they did not look it up or they could not find it using there price guide so they just priced it as a regular XBOX one.

You certainly got a steal which worked in your favour. Just many stores like that won't bother checking.

Awesome find though, glad someone who is passionate about the Xbox found it, not someone who thought it was just an Xbox One and would turf the box.

Thank you Hex1gon for the kind words(from one collector to another). It makes me wonder why a Microsoft developer would sell it for less than 1/2 the value at a store instead of putting it on craigslist or ebay? I have seen these on craigslist/ebay and Microsoft people must know the value they are fetching. If these were given out for free to developers then I understand why, especially if they needed money badly...but still. It is one of those rare events when you are there exactly at the right time. I believe Borman found some XBOX launch team/Dakota controllers at a game store once. Emilio found that Halo Orange XBOX at a garage sale. And so far I found the Orange XBOX lid for $5.99 at a thrift store and this. But I scope the thrift/video game stores in my area all the time and you have to be persistant. But I have slipped up a few times. Before I knew anything about XBOX stuff, I passed up on an XBOX Live Orange controller. It was like $3 and I thought it was just like any other XBOX controller. XBOX Live was popular so I immediately thought it was common as dirt. Boy was I wrong.

It doesn't say anywhere on the outside it is white, so how did they know the color? lol

And yes, I am glad a collector found it also. =)

That or one of them must have X-Ray vision. Yes, there is no other possibility. XD

I still like the story of how I got mine cheap better tho. Haha

    Let me guess,
Did he go dumpster diving at the Microsoft campus? Maybe a kind neighbor that was part of the XBOX one launch team?

    Thanks! =)

I got mine for $490 in an auction on Ebay and $40 of that was shipping and this wasn't long after the Xbox One came out. Like a few months. It was listed as just a "Day One" edition. The seller opened the box and took some quick pictures but never took the console out. The only reason I knew what it was was because the picture showed the employee card that comes inside the box and because the last picture was of the cardboard sleeve but only the side that says "I Made This". I asked the seller a simple question about why they were selling it, something like "Is it brand new? Did you buy it and then decide you didn't want it?" The seller responded with "Someone gave this to my son for free but he already has one so we are selling it." So in other words, a Microsoft employee just gave their console free to some kid and since he was spoiled and already had one his parents just threw it on Ebay without even stopping to check it out. AND I got it in the SECOND time it was listed, it sold for $440 the first time but the reserve was $450 and the seller re-listed it. Held out for that extra $10. XD

That is seriously awesome, especially in the ebay marketplace. And the fact that you got it the 2nd time around right at the reserve price is insane. I would have been really nervous and email the guy to do a buy it now...but your patience paid off. Too bad for that kid, he will grow up and remember his little mistake :). But it looks like we are in the same boat. We both do not have the white controller, unless you picked one up recently. It really is too bad they did not include it with the console. Why did they decide to do that? The original XBOX and 360 launch consoles both had controllers packed in didn't they?
And do you know how many of these were made? I have heard from 1000-3000. 3000 seems kind of high to me.

I got a white controller eventually but I don't have the cardboard slip cover on the outside of the box. The original Xbox LT had one green Duke in the box with the console and another separately. I don't know about the 360 LT though. As far as the numbers go I have no idea, it is only guessed that the original had around 500 or so LTs.
