So, how much is the Xbox One in Japan (I think it's like 40,000 yen?) compared to an internet capable karaoke machine? Because it sure couldn't hurt Microsoft to sell the Xbox as a karaoke machine.
Internet Karaoke machines cost a lot of money. More than a few Xbox One consoles because they come with amps and so on. Also I don't think this Xbox One service could cut it in a bar unless everyone had smart glass on their phone. Entering song titles with the controller is a pain.
Xbox team marketing in Japan is bullshit, why they consider to sell in Japan now is beyond me. They don't try.
From what i've read, even the PS4 is "struggling". It barely tops the WiiU. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2015-01-08-japanese-console-sales-continued-to-slide-in-2014 Both the 3DS and the Vita (believe it or not!) top the charts. It seems the japanese only care about portable / mobile these days.
It's funny how americans think the PSVita is a dead crappy system and yet in Japan you see the opposite of that entirely! lol Goes to show that SOME Handheld portable games are selling very well in other countries and doesn't depend on the US to make a boat ton.
I actually have the system and i do like it. I think the only problem is that Sony has to lower the price of their overprice memorycards. Still, love playing anything on it, be it a vita exclusive, indie, psp or ps1 classics (which by the way, Sony should remember they still need to add a tons of those) It's sad indeed. Seems like japanese people are losing interest on console games. It's so weird because my whole life i've read on magazines and then on the internet about them getting in line for console launches, not to mention how fantastic the japanese gaming market was with exclusive games. No wonder people bothered to import those. I miss those days. Seems the peak was during the PS1 and Saturn, with the PS2 having some game worth importing and the last generation only having a handful of exclusive japanese games.
I defo agree with the overactive expensive memory sticks, it's like when is Sony ever gonna discount it?! and yeah i would also love to see more Japan Only PS1 games come to PSN like Community Pom, One on One, Shin Megami Devil Children Red Book & Black Book, Racing Lagoon, a few horror visual novel games as well like Otogirisu Rebirth, Night of the Sickle Weasel and also one of the Twilight Syndrome series games.
Sony in the US seems to think Americans just want tiny versions of console games, and for the most part they don't. Plus the system is still $200 almost a year after the last revision. Without that enormous hidden cost of the cards (the 3DS' cards, being regular SD/Micro SD cards, are much, much cheaper). I think some of that has to do with the rise of Europe as a market. Even into the fifth gen, Europe was kind of ignored (many European versions of games were hastily done ports of the US version with whatever translation they could do). Ever since, Europe has gotten a lot more prominent, and 1) most European games have English in them already, and 2) translating from English to German/Spanish/French/etc is a lot easier than Japanese, so companies have been spending more time and money focusing on the "West". And Hong Kong, which I think gets their games in English (I could be wrong). Though seriously, if Sony released all those PS1 Japan exclusives on the Vita, they'd make a fair amount of money.
Hong Kong and Singapore both get their games in English and uncensored or even rated at times. I try to buy the Asian version whenever possible.
Crappy? Definitely not. Dead? In the West, yes. The stuff that's coming out for Vita is mostly Japanese niche stuff that's not marketable anywhere else. Sony tried to get people to buy Vitas by making AAA games like Uncharted, Killzone and LBP as well as stuff like Gravity Rush and Wipeout, but none of that got people to buy. The last time Sony really tried was with Tearaway, but that's coming to PS4 now, and it looks like they've left the Vita to die in the West.
Nice video. It's funny how some english talking people consider console as a female word. Here, console (and car) are male words. That's a cool looking controller. I might get one before the price skyrockets. lol I tought it was a random video and saw the gamertag. Is your voice normally hoarse (or gravelly? I don't know the correct english word)? Do you smoke or something?
I think men like to give things they love a female point or at least in English. As you know, English is a gender free language for the most part. I have a cold at the moment which is why my voice is a little gravely. JoySound used to be the number 1 service but then they fell. Now UGA and JoySound seem to be partners as every Joysound and UGA karaoke system seem to display both logos. DAM is also very big, maybe be bigger? Basically they are the same but offer slightly different song choices. I hear that UGA is better for none Japanese stuff which does seem to be the case or at least with groups I like however on DAM there are some interesting choices which are welcome while on UGA/Joysound there are songs missing that you'd expect to be there. The karaoke system I use when out drinking is an UGA / JoySound system. If you'd like I can video a little next time I go drinking.
That would definitely make sense. The US had its own video game decline, albeit regarding arcades, whenever consoles gained prominence as a deeper, more intimate experience. Kind of a shame.
