So i got this thing 2 days ago (for free :dance Can anybody tell me what is this, whats its used for and how much its worth ? Pics: Buttons are RESET and TEST.
Pretty sure its an xbox power cord sent free to some xbox owners due to fire hazard. Nothing rare or worth anything. Next time the correct thread for valuations is in the marketplace.
It is the replacement cord that Paulo is talking about. It has a test and a reset button just like anything else with a built in mechanism to prevent surges and shocks. Hair dryers have them, they are not unusual when you are trying to prevent people from being electrocuted. http://support.xbox.com/support/en/.../startupyourconsole/powercordreplacement.aspx
Do they not have power adapters with in-line breakers in Russia? While you don't usually see them on video game systems, they're also not uncommon in the US and Europe. You usually see them on items that draw high current such as hair dryers. The short answer is that Paulo is 100% correct. Microsoft gave those things away for free worldwide. They were never sold. You got it for free because that's about all it is worth. It's just a bog standard power cord for the console, post-2005. Just because you've never seen something before doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Even if you "don't think" it should.
I've never seen anything like this on hairdryers and such, but yes - according to google search for xbox replacement power cord this is just an extra-safe replacement power cord Ok then, tnx for help. Topic closed heh.
Do they not have power adapters with in-line breakers in Russia? > Nope, all power adapters dont have breakers here.
Here is a quick description of the technology behind GFIs: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/electric/gfi.html You can find them on certain appliance power cords as well as built-in on come wall outlets. Usually outlets near water (in the bathroom and kitchen) on new construction will have them in-built. -hl718
I have a box of the western version of these. Very nice, and I use them for my ps2 and other devices.
