I installed a smart xx v2 se(quick solder method) and a 1 TB WD sata Harddrive [IMG]

---wired up the lcd. It has 12 wires from smart xx v2 se to lcd....

----cut the top case to fit lcd...this lcd was too big for installing on the faceplate so thought I would do something different.

    -----tested it

Works like a charm and saved my now dead board. I'll be using it for my 1.6 now since I have a 128MB 1.4 board coming with IND-BIOS flashed.

Nice, I am having a friend install ram on a xbox for me too....I removed the ram off a dead 1.4 but a little hesitant to tackle that on my own...I have a hot air rework station with my soldering iron so may give it a go soon.

Today I decided to practice doing a ram upgrade. I had a fragging/messed up 1.0 mobo I removed the ram from and reinstalled to the same board on the 4 extra ram spot's..it boot's and still frag's like before but least I feel more confident in doing this to this xbox.

Here's some pic's...I didnt want to use these ram chips in my good xbox since i removed them with hot air...I heard you can damage them if you heat them too much...you can see they are installed to different spot's now...

So I ordered 4 ram chip's to do this to this xbox and 4 extra to do another one

Yeah, it's def. different. It's kinda growing on me..those lcd's from ebay are cheap but all of them are to big for the faceplate...I did find the right size though from digikey...it's on it's way...

That looks pretty neat and tidy for a ram upgrade. I have been meaning to have a razz at doing this mod just to see if i can do it. How are going to do the mod when you do it on a working decent xbox are you going to use hot air or a soldering iron. I have a couple of knackered xbox's im going to practice on when i get the time.

I think soldering iron is the way to go. Just use good flux and tack it down, align it, and do all the corners first ...I have been told hot air may damage the ram chip's if they get to hot...

Hot air to remove chips, iron to fit.

I did remove these ram chip's with hot air. They are probably fine to use on a working xbox. I don't know.Maybe I'll try them while I am waiting on the new ram chip's. It take's like 3 week's to get them..
