I have just been going through my Xbox as u plan on installing coinops5 soon but is says the hard drive is locked in the settings , please forgive my ignorance but does this mean I can't put anything on it? also I wanted the LCD display to show the date , time , fan speed and CPU temprature how do I do this? also it is saying it does not know what the Bios it has on the LCD and in the settings! how would I find this out and if it is all up to date? thanks for your time
The hard drive being locked refers to a security mechanism where only one hard drive at a time can be used with one specific xbox motherboard. This is achieved via a code that the hdd and the motherboard exchange. If the code differs on one side, the xbox will not boot to the Xbox operating system. A locked HDD can theoretically only be used with the corresponding motherboard. There are tools and modchips that allow you to unlock the hdd, but if you want to load the MS-default dashboard with an unlocked HDD it'll show an error...at least that's how I remember it. Regarding the LCD, I think there is an option in XBMC where you can set these options. As far as BIOS goes, I'm sorry, I can't help you there.
Ahhhh right so the hard drive is not locked as in nothing can be put on it , it is just paired up with the motherboard. well yes the only option I can find is making your own message on the LCD maximum of 19 letters I think. i have seen these with fan speed and CPU temprature on it too I would like this.
