but if they are making money off of advertising. why should we pay 50 bucks or more a game. Standard Telvision is free because advertisers pay for it. Or do you forget the 2 min breaks? I am just saying They can make pepsi man coke man or astro glide man. I don't want to pay full price while they are taking my money off everytime i log into a game. I love realism not fighting that but when it is to much realism. I don't watch bond movies anymore (i still love the chicks) because of the fact that james has to drive a new BMW while jumping over a Heiniken truck full of perfected faced cans show the logo clear than the action on the screen. It makes me sick.
When you put it like that Alchy, I am really starting to think the whole thing is a bad idea.I mean the graphics card thing is a very serious issue and it would maybe mean having to have a standard graphics card and that wouldn't be good for moving technology forwards.
Re: . That's not entirely true. There have been many PC ports onto consoles before the xbox even came along! Command & Conquer - N64 & PlayStation Command & Conquer: Red Alert - Playstation Quake II - N64 & PlayStation Quake III Arena - Dreamcast Soldier of Fortune - Dreamcast Starlancer - Dreamcast Unreal Tournament - Dreamcast That's just off the top off my head. There have been many other PC -> Console ports over the years, many of them worked well in their new envirnment :smt023
Well Well there have been many ports over the years for various consoles but if you look at the Xbox it probably has the most PC ports of any recent console. Most if it's mainstays are infact PC ports.
I suppose this is a bit off topic, but when I cancelled my X Box live subscription. I had a friendly phone call concerning my "customer experience". Upon which I explained that with online gaming, i prefer a keyboard and mouse (fps etc). The guy on the phone said that loads of people had said the same thing, apparentley missing a keyboard on its own really spoiled the "online experience". If X Box 2 could support a keyboard and mouse (bluetooth maybe), I can say it would practically make my PC redundant for all gaming. The PC will always have the edge with hardware, but a console is so much easier and user friendly (think driver updates, game patches). I think my point is, Im not worried about using X Box peripherals on a PC, I wanna use my PC stuff on my X Box.
How does it having a keyboard suddenly make a PC redundant? Not only do you lose the free aspect of most games but you also lose the ability to host servers, make/use mods etc.
I agree with the keyboard and mouse especially with FPS games. Just so much better. The only console controller that I liked for FPS games was the N64 controller. I hope I'm wrong but I think consoles are only going to get worse when it comes to being user friendly. One of my biggest fears about next gen consoles (which the Xbox is already starting to prove unfortunately) is that once HDD support is built in and online becomes truly mainstream is that developers are going to get lazy and release bug filled games early and patch them later. Yeah I know that some of them do this now but it's still nowhere near as bad as PC games.
