With a xbox360 dev/demo/test kit etc how does xbox live work? can you still connect?Do you still need to buy a subscription just like everybody else? just if theres anything simple about xbox live with a dev kit i wouldnt know( i dont know anything) then please just say it. Many thanks:nod::nod:
Yes there is an Xbox Live-type service, called PartnerNet. That's really all I can say. Although, you do not need to buy a subscription, they're provided for you.
Hm..i know that this partnernet thing is all in hush hush for some reason but it like(resemble) xbox live. And i know that dev kits can run the retail dashboard so why wouldnt xbox live work as well?
Because xbox live is meant for retails and the kerberos authentification server checks wether or not it's a retail that's connecting. M$ do not want their debugs to connect to live for obvious reasons
hm..so if i got a dev kit and logged on partnernet and got on gears of war id get to play with Cliff blesinski lolz
Probally not, maybe if you have a gears 2 beta before release.... The posibility of playing a online game on PartnerNet against someone is really slim.
What game? Do they talk? Im getty interested in this, I think id be pretty sweet to log onto parternet and talk to sum devs or something.
Ofcource it's possible but I'm saying the possibility of bumping in to a rival in a online game is pretty slim.
Halo 3 matchmaking has a population of 0 on all playlists at almost any given time, so don't get your hopes up
As fun as it would be to play on partnernet, its really meant for work not play. I hope to get my hands on a dev console but only to code on it and possibly hack it for fun and profit, but I digress. I doubt unless its a game getting lots of hype your not going to see many people online playing games.
hum... you're playing on parter net? tell me if i'm wrong, but they can tell the xbox is not used by a dev as it's not where it's supposed to be right?
Probably, but I almost (I can't be sure, I don't have a XeDK (yet...)) think that even if they do the worst they are probably going to do is ban the system from connecting or possibly brick it remotely (I know they can do that) or something more heinous, and even at that its slightly more probably that they leave it alone unless its causing problems for everyone else, seriously whats keeping an actual developer from taking one home and doing some after hours coding. PLEASE NOTE: If I am totally off my rocker here, don't kill me please
They wouldn't brick your console.. And Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta was played online, aswell as Halo 3 Retail..
If they wanted to do some damage they would some how remotely delete the XBDM.XEX file, now that would do some major damage.
Im geussing that thats a pretty important file? so anyways back on topic, so the main point is here i can play games on partner net but there wont be any people just like my Tom Clancys Endwar Private Beta.
XBDM = XBox Dashboard Menu You can't tell me that microsoft doesn't have away to "brick" a xbox, they could fake a specific firmware update and when it reboots, surpise! Most likely they would put it into a "Needs Service" mode that way they could fix it if it was actually in the hands of a legitimate developer or recovery it from a silly person stupid enough to call and try and get it fixed.
I know m$ is heartless bastards..but the wouldnt do something liek that (hopefully). Its not very buisness like...and thats all m$ is, buisness.
