i might have a chance to get one at 240euros brand new...

but i'm not sure if it is the right machine for me...

i have some concerns and question i'd like to be answered

    1)will it die soon?
2)will square enix and other jap companies release good things?
3)any JRPGs are going to be released on it? (thing like oblivion are not in my taste; i have a pc for that)
4)good racing games? i've heard forza 2 is nice but with just 12 tracks you'll get bored in a week
5)for some reason when my friend brought it to my flat and we connected it throught RGB SCART xbox360 looked like shit, far worse than ps3 with same cables... was it a config problem or what? (i have no HD tv sets so far)
6)how much is for playing online?

and to close the topic, what games should i think of getting?

really thanks please be fast in aswers because the offer won't last for long :D

    id say go for it

ive still got my launch 360 and its still going strong

there are some good rpg games coming out, blue dragon looks fantastic and has an exellent creative team behind it, as well as enchanted arms is already out which isnt too bad, and sqeenix will be publishing some games for it in the future

racing games, test drive unlimited is amazing!, as well as project gotham 3 being pretty good, and burnout revenge

i personally dont play online with it, but its only £40 a year for full xbox live gold

connecting it up, either go for rgb scart or if you have a spare computer monitor go the vga route!

so all in all for 240euros its not a bad price, depends if its a premium or code pack though

now im the opposite, although forza is a 'realistic' driving game and it does look amazing graphically, you just dont have the freedom and game modes that is in test drive, each to their own really though, but i think each game is good in its own right as seperate types of racing games

Aye both have there merits and fallbacks. I just cant get use to Test drive I probly need to play it more but it may have to wait till I get bored of Forza. A fall back of Forza is the lack of tracks - even thro there are so many variations, you soon get used to them.

I play my Xbox36 much more than the Wii or PS3, although the PS3 is used as a Blu Ray player all the time!

If its the Premium bundle for that price i'd grab it for sure. In answer to your questions:

    1) The Xbox is likely to die at some point, read up on the related failures associated with the console. Although I have never had a problem - still have a launch console!!

    2) There are a lot of rumors of potential square titles, although they are not my type of games so I cant really comment further.

    3) same as above

4)DiRT is fantastic! Forza got on my nerves so similar to the origional Xbox version especially with the tracks. Im a level 20 driver and I doubt I'll go back to it anytime soon.

5)Only hooked my box up by scart to a CRT TV once, and it looked shit! I'd personally only play the Xbox360 or PS3 through a HD TV.

    6) £40 a year I believe, I got my membership with a Live Camera - SO MUCH FUN!

Currently Dirt is the game for me! I've just been tinkering with it, but frankly it is really good fun. If it's a Premium package for that price, why even ask? lol

VGA or HDMI really are good, however most other options are pretty poor.

Reliability.... well, it's a mixed bag.

if anyone's got a DiRT Cheap copy of it, please PM me! i m very interested =) (although i wont be able to play 360 until september)

I think the 360 is the platform where all the fun is at, and it's a real blast considering how any titles it has gathered. Live arcade also offers a good shot in the arm with something different every now and then.

The only risk however, is the quality of the console. From what you will already know, it's piss-poor and u re more likely than not to bump into problems sooner or later :(

If you are unsure then I would wait. The next hardware revision is just around the corner if reports are to believed which will make the machine potentially cheaper and more reliable. I wish I had waited a while.

The only reason to get one is because you want to play the games on it. There are a nice set of games on it, but do you have a desire to play them?

by the way, so far i've never ben interested in the x360, so i've started searching aroud... and there's something i don't really understand... how can it be considered cheap? in any way?

i mean, i was shocked to know that the core version 299e misses HD so you can't save games or play xbox 1 games and not dowload contents to it! also it have wired pads...

so if you want to be able to play and enjoy the machine completely you have to add

299+99 for an HD. also ALL THE 3 MACHINES have no built in wi-fi... for that you need other 79e (79! incredible rip off!!!!!!)

that makes 477e... for a machine that is not even able to play HD videos... for that add almost other 200e...

man! and i considered PS3 to be a rip off :D

if that offer is for a premium pack i think i'll take it otherwise i guess i'll wait for price drops... the core pack is such and outrageous thing! :D

I`d say yes.....borrowed a PS3 at the weekend and have to give it back next week, only have two games M-Storm & Resistance

Boring, even at the end of the week, I am sure I will have the same opinion

The controller feels so cheap with no rumble in it either

    so a big change now! i've found a x360 core+1game deal at 199e...

to that i should add 79 for the HD and makes 278e... not bad at all!

but now i have another question :D i've read somewhere on a FAQ, that core x360s even if the are equipped with the HD can't access all the features of a pro x360... is it true in any way? or was is it so only at the beginning? (the FAQ is wayyyyyy outdated!)

please answer fast again, because this time Mr gates have a chance to get my money :D

edited to add a Q: another question i have is... is it possible to use the wireless pad on the core system too?

    That's false information.

I have a loose 20 GB hard drive for sale in the Marketplace forum if you're interested.

Funny you should say that VA as I took back Spiderman 3 and asked to try out another game just to get more of an impression. It wasn't my first choice, but one of the few titles the store had in stock was "Motorstorm" and my 3yr old son loves it!

Yeah, the controller remains one of my biggest gripes with the PS3 at present. It is rubbish and I suspect a 3rd party or perhaps the equivalent of the original Xbox S type controller (i.e. a second attempt) is an essential purchase whenever it / they become(s) available. The entire controller feels poorly made, cheap, nasty, lightweight and the L/R T1/2 buttons are awful. No response, no rumble, no feedback.

My eldest daughter had a few friends around on Saturday and the lads all wanted a shot of Motorstorm and liked it, but when I stuck on DiRT they admitted it was a hell of a lot better. Graphics, playability, feel, options etc all added up to a better all round package.

That's 3 or 4 people I now know of who've road tested the unit at home and are potentially taking it straight back.

I am curious though VA, what did you make of the hardware and set up? I personally liked it (not particularly the overall look) but the rigidity of it and ease of use.

I have heard that the disc scratching problems are caused by a missing part that was accadently left out of units made durning december of 05 or 06 (cant remember the year but I think it was 06)

Anyways to be safe just dont buy a 360 that was made during December and you should be fine.

I have had my unit for almost a year now with no major problems. Dead Rising and Oblivion have both givin me dirty disc errors a couple of times but I played the hell outta them and Oblivion was second hand so there was some scratching on it.
