Link and Heihachi in the XBOX version?

I m pretty sure this is a lie, but let's see what others think/know

Total BS. EGM did an interview with the developers and specifically asked if they made an internal version with all three characters to which they replied no. Not to mention the fact that Nintendo would never allow Link to be on an Xbox demo for obvious reasons. If something like that would have happened it would had to have been on a Gamecube kiosk.

I doubt that each version of Soul Calibur II was developed from scratch for their respective consoles, so who's to say it's not possible to find a way of porting the system-exclusive characters from one platform to another? Of all the companies involved, I'd expect it was Nintendo who forced Namco into not producing a so-called "master" build with all the bonus fighters on a single disc - particularly if this wasn't intended solely for the GameCube!

I call BS to the person but I 100% sure namco coders had a special build with all 3 players together. The game was multiple platforms from the start and all done by the same team. There is no way a team is going to juggle between 3 builds to work on a game. There was 1 master build with everything while in development but when it went to respective platform testing, the game would have their respective special character.

personaly, it should be posible to get the link assets from the GCN version running on the xbox version. They're not going to completly modify the data assets between platforms.

On a somewhat related note, has anyone ever looked through the character models in one of the versions to see if traces of the other exclusive characters exist on that disc? I doubt character data would remain, but 3D models of the characters themselves and their weapons may be there.

You can decompile .gcm files, and I happen to own SCII , as most of us here, for the GC. It really depends if they ve kept the same format on character models accross all three platforms.

In that, I agree with that solid-snake-avatar guy :)p) , in that it might be possible to make a custom hack build by replacing some characters with the exclusive ones from the other builds. Hell, there could be a version with all three on all three consoles :p One would definately need a modified GC (hard or soft) in order to play that though ;p

Frankly, I m surprised no one has attempted this, as extracting files from the .gcm format is piss-easy (no knowledge about the Ps2 and XBOX iso formats, but I assume that it's equally easy)

  7. technically xbox would be the ideal platform for such a modification as you could play from hard drive with extracted files and skip the process of rebuilding / replacing files in a disk image. just an obs.
