I possess the XDK raptor emulation card V1 (using a xlink/spartan chipset) However my XDK software revisions (5849 and 5933i) only contains drivers for the XDK Raptor dvd emulation card V2 when I possess a V1 Can anyone send me by PM the proper drivers ? Thanks
I thought it was the same driver... dunno... Might want to try looking in one of the earlier XDK's, something in the early 4xxx perhaps. I'd install an earlier version and poke around, but i've already screwed up my build environment on my laptop... too many sdk's installed already (Xbox, 360, XNA, Saturn, PS2, PS1, DirectX9, DX8, DX7, DX6, Java, Python,etc...) It's a wonder i can get anything compiled on this thing.
It must make things a lot easier being a Programming Ace, no? ...Although it must be a nightmare keeping tabs on all those NDA's, especially when using the 360 SDK and the Playstation varient's at the same time?
sounds like you should try to manage your computer a bit better never had that kind of problems and I've got just about as many different sdk's installed (thought not the same sdk's)
If i worried about NDA's i wouldn't be posting here, now would i? = P Besides, i don't have the Ps3 sdk, just the ps2. And i'm not allowed to work on Revolution stuff because nintendo thinks i'm "contaminated". I don't think the DX8 sdk plays nice with the xbox 1 sdk. I think that's my main issue. Like i said before, the "Ace" in my username isn't because i think i'm some great programmer, it's because i used to be a magician growing up.
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but how do I tell V1 from V2? I just received my dev unit, and was hoping to try it out on weekend. I already have a Raptor card with corresponding SCSI HDD in original box...
That was probably ment as a joke, but Nintendo does infact read these forums. As do Sony and Microsoft. Contaminated as in my knowledge of one system could create legal issues if i were to create a similar function in another system... Like if i worked at a doughnut shop, learned how the doughnuts were made then quit and worked at a competing doughnut shop and showed them how the first company made their product. There's a bit of a secrecy issue in this industry... that and i'm hungry...
Any experience gained throuout a contractual relationship, even of confidentiality, does not extend the matters of secrecy found in an NDA when the contract has lapsed. By the way, I am aware that there may be some good amount of people from the mentioned companies around the forums, too bad they dont approach anyone for some serious business instead of spying. :Girl: EDIT: that said, that is one of the reasons that I m quite reluctant to promote or show off any ideas or hardware I own, wouldn't want to be labelled
True, but if i work on the xenon to give it a doughnut making feature the code is copyrighted to microsoft. If i then go on to work on the revolution and give that a doughnut making feature microsoft can sue nintendo for stealing their copyrighted code. There would be a direct link between the two codebases because i had worked on both. Nintendo is trying to avoid the issue entirely by banning me from the Revolution. The ban may be lifted once the console launches. It's the same reason i can't work on a "mod" for a game i've been hired to work on. Like if i had worked on the original Half Life, i wouldn't be allowed to work on Counter Strike (at least before valve bought the rights to counterstrike). There would be too much of a chance for me to leak confidential code to the mod makers either intentionally or accidently.
As for the drivers, they should all work. I've installed REV 0, 1 and 3 cards with the 5849 and 5933 XDKs and they've all installed with no problem. If you are installing it under windows 2000, you will need to get a driver for the built-in IDE controller so you can connect a HD to it. It's not needed for emulation, only if you need the IDE controller. Only the emulation driver comes with the XDK. The IDE driver is included with XP but if you install it in 2000, you will be promted for a driver installation. If that's what you need, PM me your email and i'll send you the driver. You can also find it anywhere that you can download drivers.
I am trying to install the raptor card into windows XP SP2, I don't know if that's why the problem occur, windows recognise my card as a standard IDE device but the transfer is way too slow (about 500 KB/s !!) I haven't tried the emulation yet as I haven't recieved my DVT3 XDK yet (I'll in a few days) beside windows still remind me at startup that some unknown hardware remains uninstalled.
Ahh, I didn't know that you were a magician, all makes sense now. ...I also found the bit about you working in the doughnut shop interesting as well, I guess doughnut manufacture can be quite an art? Btw how exactly do they get the jam in the middle, or is that subject to an NDA? :110:
As a former "Filling Insertion Specialist", I'm pretty sure we'd have to kill you if you discovered our methods of jam insertion. Ninja style.
I know how they get jam into the middle. I have yet to find out the secrets of M&Ms. How do they get the Ms on them?!
